Any chance I could get a copy of the chicken pattern from you, or borrow it?
Will you get a chance to take pictures of the quilts for the show before they go? Id love to see your work. See you at the llllllama running! Funny you should ask! I just spent part of the morning getting things ready for our quilt show on October 2 and 3. (MSQG in Frederic, WI). I have 3 largish quilts to show and a flag wall hanging. Also pulled out some items for the Silent Auction--a Quiltmaker's Gift pillow, chicken pincushion, and Halloween mug rugs. Tossed my Challenge in the garbage---because I battled it for half a day yesterday, decided I didn't like it and it was a mess. This morning I called my long arm quilter and am bringing 2 quilts to her to quilt this afternoon---a Snail's Trail I did at the Spring Workshop and a Nickel Square Quilt (nickel squares from RCTQ and my guild. Then if she gets them done, I'll be binding them. Probably my next priority should be to layer, quilt, scallop the border, and bind a Christmas Table Cover for my SIL. Dragging out PIGS or finishing up UFOs and WIPS or have new quilts started appearing? I'm still working on the queen size LC borders, getting ready to MQ the siggy quilt, plotting the next borders on DDs quilt, and playing with layouts for Mike's 'Things go better with Coke" quilt. Sometime in the middle of those I need to design and make two quilted Christmas stockings. Lets hear your list! Well? ;-) Occasionally slogging on mariner's compass quilt for DS3. Doing the month's block for a Civil War BOM I signed up for in January. That's pretty well it for right now. I'm in a quilting lull. Rather be out cycling. :-D Which is what I should be doing right now, actually. I seem to remember hearing that there are baked chips that are pretty darn
good. That would make them healthier anyway. Mmmmmmm fresh home made salsa.. on eggs.. scrambled cause it slides right off the fried ones. :-) Diana -- Heart and soul can make up for technical lacking in any form of art, but let the heart be lacking and all the perfection means nothing. I'm *still* working on my NASCAR quilt -- it seems like forever. I really do
like it and I love my step-son who will get it when it's finished, but I just can't seem to get enthused about it. I have about 1/3 left, so maybe it's just the 2/3 Syndrome hitting me! I have to change my attitude toward it, I guess. I haven't finished anything since the beginning of the year, so I really need to get something DONE! -- Louise in Iowa nieland4 at mchsi dot com http://community.webshots.com/user/louiseiniowa "Diana Curtis" wrote in message news Well? ;-) What sort of things does everyone have going at the moment in the quilt family? Lots of little things!
At the moment i'm doing a lot of little patchwork bags that i;m selling on Ebay - just squares in lots of fabric in the same colours (the pink ones seem popular!) so that's keeping me busy. I'm also doing a small 30 inch square hanging thingy using a lot of the lovely strawberry fabric people on here sent me, with an applique bit in the centre. Should be interesting because i've never done applique before. Once it's done i'll post pics. I'm finally machine quilting my Eureka with lots of unmarked feathers and other motifs. This will take a while; I'm doing lots! Besides, it's taking time to wrestle it through the SM, since it's quite large for a lap quilt -- roughly 70" x 87". G 2. I'm almost finished with the hand appliqué on a Celtic-patterned table runner. I'm saving the last bit for meeting tomorrow. Then it will get in line for hand quilting. 3. The teapot quilt is still in the hand quilting stage. It's been on hold for a little while, until the weather started cooling off again. Now that we're only in the 90's, I'll be able to work on it again. 4. The BOM from the LQS (the pattern is called Out of Darkness) is waiting to be sent out for long-arm quilting by a friend here. I have absolutely *no* idea how I want it done, so I'm going to give her free rein on it. 5. I've finished the top to the challenge quilt from another group, Quilt en France, and that's in line for me to machine quilt when I finish Eureka. 6. I've cut out some pieces for a small Magic Hexagons quilt, and those need to be put together, cut apart and resewn. This one will wait a while until some of the quilting that's currently waiting is finished. Hmm... "only" six? I thought I had more! Oh yes, my local quilt circle will be making a snowman wall hanging on Thursday, so I'll need to finish that up, too. -- Sandy in Henderson, near Las Vegas my ISP is earthlink.net -- put sfoster1(at) in front http://home.earthlink.net/~sfoster1 |

Lays is making a whole line of organic chips. They are VERY good, and don't last too
long in our house when I buy them. We don't consider them junk food here...just a yummy snack with salsa and guacamole. -- Jalynne - Keeper of the Quilt for ME club list Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne "Diana Curtis" wrote in message ... What is a loop start? And a 1390 quilt? Diana, striving to become always less ignorant The 1390 quilt is done in the style of an extant quilt currently in storage in the Victoria & Albert museum in London. Pictures of it can be seen in the Medieval Craftsman Series "The Embroiderers" among other places. It's called the Tristram and Isolde Quilt or the Guarduicci tapestry. There are no images of it online that I know of. It is trapunto-like, stuff as you go, back stitched to make pictures on a whole cloth of linen, stuffed with wool, using linen floss. This is much more like elaborate needlework. The piece is nearly 3 foot square, and is the image of 2 knights fighting sword and shield style with words. When I have the outlining done and all the stuffing worked in, I get to quilt it. With linen thread in running stitch. If I'm lucky, I'll be done in March, where I will enter it into a competition. Then gift the whole thing to a very nice person. For those in the SCA, it's going to be someone's Ducal Scroll. Loose translation, it's to commemorate someone's hard work for 2 years of their life. A loop start is when you take a long thread, double it, and thread the ends on the needle for about an inch or two. This leaves a loop dangling off the needle. Put needle through fabric and back without pulling tight. Put needle through the loop, then pull tight. You have just secured your thread without any knots. When you finish with the other end, just back stitch one, then bury it between the layers. This is a needlework trick to hide all knots. Ideally, the casualy observer on a galloping horse won't be able to tell back from front. And yes, I'll be putting up pictures and documentation on the web when I'm done with it. And instructions on how to get the look without the effort. -georg |
