Time for another Roll Call?
Okay, Sally, I'll go!
I'm Debi, live in central Florida, work at a veterinary teaching hospital in the radiology department. Do I like animals? Nah...;-) I have 4 feline QI's Ernie of the Many Toes (22 total), a black and white fearless monstrosity that knows how to 'sit pretty' and 'wave' for treats, or just when he wants attention; Jamie, the orange long haired patriarch, named for a book character with red hair and an attitude; Phoebe, a round little black cobby kitty, who, at three years of age, still suckles at night on her 'ninny pillow'. She was orphaned at an early age. And last, my little paranoid Emma, a blue-grey and white shorthaired kitty who was discovered in a shopping cart outside the Family Dollar Store nearly three years ago. My lone canine QI is Clifford, the Medium Red Dog who is simply the best dog ever, except for his desire to clean the yard of the 'debris' other cats leave behind. I am married, my DH being a tech junkie, and constantly tearing down and fixing his computer, and mine (hooray!) My only complaint in that area is that he installed a new video card on my computer and I cannot for the life of me get the colors correct on it now. Ugh... Next... -- Debi "I think not", said Descartes, and promptly disappeared. "Sally Swindells" wrote in message ... As Cornwoman wrote 'Now I want to know more about each of you! Please tell!! and we seem to have a flurry of new posters, is it time for a general Roll Call, so that newbies can see who we all are. So here is mine: Retired to the Suffolk coast in England from Nottingham in 2001, so of advancing years! Two big children, neither still at home. Richard 33 has lived with his girlfriend and her three children for 5 years so it seems pretty permanent. He works in computers (thank goodness!). Rachel is 37 and lives with her husband Tim, an airline pilot, in central England. She has her own Personal Training business, but I think she has given up having a beautifully slim and fit mother! DH Mike is into ornithology in a big way - birdwatches, rings birds for migration stats, does conservation work, so I am left to stitch! (and garden). QI Inspector No 1 is Hodge who is a white cat with a grey tabby mask, hat, cloak and tail. He is assisted by 2 year old Mia (who is black and white and would rather be doing other things), and her brother Kiwi who shows great promise. Kiwi was supposed to be all black, hence his name the New Zealanders will understand. However, he is a bit of a clown so grows a long very fluffy brownish coat for winter, with a big mane like a lion and an enormous tail. He retains his pitch black face and legs though! In the summer he is black and short haired and looks considerably smaller. Have sewed for ever, lots of embroidery, but only started quilting about 6 years ago when my sister died and left me her board, rotary cutter, lots of bits and pieces and small stash. She only had one or two things unfinished but I thought I would learn to use the board and cutter so I could finish her things properly. However.... the stash has grown and so has the pile of UFOs - and I seldom embroider! I've just had a sort out of my Webshots, so its fairly up to date. At the moment I am concentrating on the 'Singing the Blues' and have spent the evening appliqueing leaves - lots and lots of leaves! Chocolate - officially nil as I am dieting, but ........ (Personal Trainer is too far away to see!). So .. open to everyone else! -- Sally at the Seaside~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~uk http://community.webshots.com/user/sallyswin |

Sally at the Seaside~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~uk http://community.webshots.com/user/sallyswin Here is mine. I am a 37 year old beginner quilter, who really hasn't done any quilting in the last year due to the job, working the grave yard shift really kills creativity I am finding. My mom lives with me as she is getting younger day by day and she is also coming up on her 6th year cancer free. I have two fantastic singer sewing machines, one given to me by my mother a Funky green Singer337, who was born in 1965 and then my newest baby whom I've had for two years now a Singer Featherweight that was born in 1954 who I saved from getting tossed in the dump, and the feather weight came to live with me in its original black case with the zigzag attachment and all the feet you can imagine, which also fit on my 337. I am owned by 7 QI's Bud is a tuxedo colored Main Coon he was a stray that found us at the age of about two years old back in 96, Tinker is also another tuxedo sort of main coonish cat, then came 6. The 6 are all brothers and sisters, There is Hastings an orange tabby who loves to cuddle, Morse a brown tabby who thinks he is human, Marple a white and orange medium haired cat who's purr sounds like a pigeon, then there are the girls Cyd yet another tuxedo colored QI who will follow Bud around and cry when she cant find him, Peroit yet another tuxedo little girl QI, then in memory is their other sister Lovejoy who was a pure white medium haired kitty that passed due to fatty liver disease. The 6 were found in a farmers field back in 97 during a cold spell when they were just a few weeks old, and came to live with me as foster cats, fell in love with them and couldn't part with them. In my quilting history, first one I ever worked on was for a friend who wanted a watercolor quilt, she cut the fabric's I sewed them together for her. I am not counting the pot holder I made in home Ec which oddly enough I still have 24 years later. Then came a uneven log cabin done in blue and red batik fabrics, I wanted to call it Sunset over water, but the water turned out to have a bad green algae problem when it was put together. Then came a Carol Doak book that I just had to try out, and out of that was born a multi Star meditation quilt. So that is me in a nutshell.. Dawn In Alberta which is still in the deep freeze When life gets you Down get up and Mambo ( wish I thought of that two weeks ago, would have saved alot of trees being turned into Kleenex) |

Time for another Roll Call?
Though I mostly lurk here, I do chat with a few members and read darn near
every post. I have had the honor of being a stop on Jeanne's Whirlwind American Tour. I live in the eastern panhandle of WV, with DH , youngest of 4 (21 yr old who works nights), and a BUNCH of critters. 4 horses, 2 dogs (my much beloved Berner, Hawk, passed right before Thanksgiving), 3 cats, peacocks, chickens and parrots (2 African Greys....Omar Mean as a Snake & Rocky Rock) and a Senegal. I am the child development & disabilities specialist for a tri-county Head Start program. I am envious of those of you who have retired, I will probably be working in my 90s. Love to applique, and must confess to a budding addiction to those stitcherie things. And Polly, I too make a killer banana bread. paulette in WV |

So here is mine: Retired to the Suffolk coast in England from Nottingham in 2001, so of advancing years! Also retired but my years are so far advanced that they now look to be retreating in the review mirror. Not married for more years than most two couples put together have been. Children? I had my house sprayed but they keep coming back. One QI, 19 years old who considers a good hard purr reason for power nap. If I was any further into the Northwest corner of the USA I'd need a waterproof case for my passport. I do not quilt, nope, not me......'cept this little Crazy Quilting thing (CRAZY being the key word here) I seem to have been sucked into, stitching little bits, embroidering that.....a few trims and beads, MORE trims and beads.....seeking out charm packs...eyeing doilies when invited to tea......checking out hair-bobs on the bus.....picking up buttons from the sidewalk...wondering if that 5 year old would miss the ribbon in her braid...are 4 sewing machines enough.....I need more stuff.....and chocolate, and a cool cloth for my neck.....I need to lay down....NEXT! Val I'll post my roll-call in a bit, just letting everyone know I'm alive, albeit with a very sore toe, and trying to catch up after 3 days in Canberra. Wasn't shopping, was shooting. -- Melinda http://cust.idl.com.au/athol |

Time for another Roll Call?
Okay... what can I write this morning... oops it's past noon.
I'm Elly, of 52 years of age, live up on the north coast of Scotland. I am married for 28 years to Neil and have 2 children. A boy/man 21 who moved out just last week to live with his girlfriend, Claire. And then there's Kirsty age 18 last week who is still at home and just left school and unemployed though starting a job on Sunday. I've been quilting for about 10 years now but I do knit occasionally (used to be a lot but the twindled when I took up quilting) I say quilting but really my favourite bit is the patching. I like dabbling in simple embroideries also. Errrr I've been retired for a long time... hee hee.. I worked for too many years in the dept of social security (that name has changed several times since I left) and then I worked for a while in a local garden center until it got just too hard and I didn't have the strength any more to lift those heavy compost bags. To mention only one reason for giving up that job. I also dabbled a bit teaching patchwork and quilting for a couple of seasons. But although enjoyable it was waring and my interest in quilting was starting to be in danger of turning into a chore as happened with my interest in gardening. So now I have no plans but to muddle my way for the time being and get from one day to the next. Can't wait for spring. Jeanne I'll send you some cool weather if you send me some sunshine, eh? Deal? You sound how I feel...Hugs to you. That's me for now... Have I covered the essentials?... oh my web bits here they are... http://community.webshots.com/user/b...host=community http://ellydspatchwork.blogspot.com/ http://uk.blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-MS...XQ.hRDK6vEKEy7 (I think this is the right addy for the 360) Off to make some lunch before heading out to a World Day of Prayer meeting... uuuurrrrgggh do I have to go.. can you see my halo choking me... Elly - totally lacking in energy/enthusiasm at the moment for anything... |

Time for another Roll Call?
I'm Liz, married 16 years, with a 12-year-old daughter who is going to a
*dance* on Friday. Seems to me I was just making little-girl dresses. That's why I started quilting. I've only been able to sew Halloween costumes for the past few years. We live in the Boston suburbs, and have a cottage near a lake in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, where the skiing is fabulous now, and the kayaking is glorious in the other season. I was a process chemist in my previous life (made drugs in 1000-gallon reactors) and get to be home now. I sing soprano in two choral groups. If you want to know anything about epilepsy and brain surgery, I've BTDT. The tumor was benign and I no longer have seizures. I love optical illusions, and find paper piecing the best way to accomplish them. I've made several quilts from blue jeans, backed with polarfleece. Right now my design wall is covered with log cabin blocks. It's been a while since I've updated my webshots. Where's that round tuit?!? There's also a tutorial on making the coil bowls. http://community.webshots.com/user/am1384 QIs are Midnight, a black Lab, and Jethro, a Lab/chow mix, who is often mistaken for her sibling. Oh yes, chocolate! I keep a large bag of the dark chocolate M&Ms in my sewing room. Liz |

Time for another Roll Call?
I read every day but don't have much to say.
I am 45, married, no kids, one - absolutely not spoiled - cat. Moved in 2005 from Vienna/Austria to North Carolina. Still trying to adjust to all that is different. Good different, but still different. Bought a house last Summer, my first one ever. It has a nice big garden and I am planning to grow my own veggies. I have been quilting for about 15 years, recently I got back into doing more knitting and crocheting than quilting, but I am working on a Dear Jane Quilt and the Women of the Bible Quilt and I make baby quilts for the new babies in our church. And I am working on things for the house so it will tell everybody who I am and what I like. I am finally living the kind of life I always wanted.
