Default ok - the story

I have been pursuaded to make this public for the good of all. I didn't
feel too good about it, because I was the main instrument, but heck, it
wasn't my fault. I'm just too nice. : )

I got an email, and a follow-up phone conversation, from someone who was
around 5 years ago. This woman 'NanaV' pulled the same thing back then.
But when the Hug quilt was delivered, and she was visited in person by an
RCTQ'r from out of the country no less, her husband didn't know anything at
all about her "bad" health situation. The name was different, and the
health situation was slightly different, as well as the added family
problems this time. When she was exposed five years ago, she threatened to
be back, and to be so good at it that we would never know. She did.

There are some current RCTQ'rs of long-standing who can help me explain and
verify this story if there are any more questions. She has a Hug
quilt........ but we have a life! sheesh.

Howdy!
I remember.
The poor pathetic critter does need prayers and good wishes
for what really ails her.
We don't do anything wrong by caring.
Hang in there, Kiddos.

Thanks. As I just mailed you privately there is absolutely no doubt in my
mind---I'll even name names. Oppie. I just did a Google search for the
address and it's the same, her email has part of the same as before, and a
lot of the posting have the same ring to them. It was the note from her
":cousin" that really tipped me off. Now she has 2 hug quilts. I don't see
how she can live with herself! I wonder how many months or years before she
tries again. At least we'll be a little more careful.next time. Some work
of art!!!!!!!!! It was neither of our faults----we got suckered into
feeling sorry for someone that has no intention of being truthful. Guess
she hasn't used the first one on her casket yet!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, RCTQers, let a lurking non-quilter butt in and applaud you all for
caring enough to offer comfort to someone that was seemingly experiencing
hard times. The fact that she was not (at least, not in the way that was
described) in no way diminishes your thoughts, efforts and prayers. Your
talents and thoughtfulness have my complete admiration.

I remember too Sandy. As I told Gen the last time ... I'd rather
err on the side of helping the wrong person than being unkind to
someone who really needs help. I am not even sure I sent a block
to "NanaV" but I do REMEMBER personal mail and correspondence
with her alter ego some years ago. I know she was/is in NY and I
thought NanaV was in Oregon, so I never even clicked on this one.
Hugs to Karen for her care and concern turning out this way, and
hugs to Gen for the reminder of that other time.

I agree whole heartedly. I wonder if someone (keeper of the hug
list) should have a side file and keep Carey's thoughtful message
in that. Thank you Carey. Now, no more lurking! If you'd like to
become a quilter, please speak up... we'd be glad to help.

I agree with Carey, and maybe in NanaV's last moment of mental clarity, she
will see how ill she really is, and regret what she did to us, twice! All
that work didn't go to waste; she really is ill, just not physically.

Thanks for your offer of assistance, but I'm not quite geared up to learning
to quilt yet. Still enamored of cross-stitch and machine knitting. Believe
me, after seeing some of the work done by the quilters here, I know where to
go for instructions. I do enjoy just hanging around here for now, since
you're all so nice and lively, and don't seem to mind when I do join a
conversation. You are all wonderful and talented people.

I remember, too. She's pathetic -- I wonder if she's ever made a quilt
on her own? But now she has two, and I hope they give her some peace.

I think some chocolate would make me and Gen feel better. Yes, in fact I
know it would.
