My advice, as always, is to check out the local places for used
furniture. I found an odd cupboard for £25 at Dens Road market, and
you can see my stash and kitty he

The stash picture is from 2 years ago, and is much larger now. I've
had to put collections (fabric set aside for specific projects and
quilts) into the wardrobe of the office/sewing room). Mu hair is
shoulder-length.
Sasha looks pretty much the same.

I keep mine in Steralite bins that stack and have drawers that pull out. I
have some larger pieces in a bookcase so I can see them. I have smaller
pieces in individual plastic containers.. although my smaller bits are
getting bigger by the day.. I may need a couple more Steralite containers. I
sort basically by colour, but use only a rating of red, blue, gold and green
so I only need 4 containers. I don't have much aside from pure cotton since
quilting is all I've been doing lately, but I do use one of the Steralite
containers to keep leftover pieces of batting in and that is where I put
anything that is poly or something else.

This reminds me of a story... a quilter friend of mine kept her stash in the
trunk of her car so her husband wouldn't find out how much she'd been
spending on fabric. Her car was stolen and when the police came to tell her
they had recovered it they also told her that all of her fabric was still
safe in the trunk... her DH said "Fabric????"

Ooops.

Bolts and cuts over 10 yards go on the utility shelves, cut yardage
goes into assorted totes, sorted by fiber, then color family, then in
a pattern classification that makes perfect sense to me. Of course
large cuts are seperate from small cuts. Fat quarters have their own
bin. The scrap box overfloweth. I haven't ever figured out whether
large odd shaped pieces should get their own classification or go into
one of the other bins, so they kind of roam around. The important
thing is I know just exactly where I put everything. And sure enough,
after I have rootled through half the bins and shelves I remember
where I put it! Usually.

This week the batting is in the closet on top of my shoes.

My fabrics are stored on open shelves in a closet, known as my "fabric pantry."
Some of it is sorted by color, but I also have sections by topics such as
Christmas, Halloween, other holiday, hand dyed, plaids, stripes, tropicals,
novelties. Scraps and strips are in plastic containers. Squares and triangles
are in plastic baggies, sorted by size.

I don't think my stash *ever* fit in a crate!

Oh, right.

First you ask where we keep our stash.

Then you make maps, like the "Hollywood Map of the Stars' Homes".

Next thing we know, you're in the Quilter's Tour Bus and Stash Raid bidness.

Pig keeps her stash.....um......um......at Nann's house. Yeah, that's it.

LOL
