That's the kind of monitor I have. It's wonderful. I use 12 units of
Lantus at night - that's the long term insulin and then during the day I'm
on Novolog - the amount I take depends on my blood count. As long as I'm
below 140 I don't have to use it at all. I count carbs and that seems to
work as good as anything. The newer monitors take less blood so you don't
have to stick so deep. Less pain than the older ones.

I was astounded - especially since I had never registered my original
monitor's warranty card (who cares about those things in your teens/20s?).
She back registered me and was simply fantastic. I tried the new tester
last night and ooooooooooh what bliss - 5 seconds it takes and can give me
averages over 7/14/21 days! Glory! Who knew these things could happen -
my first machine took 2 minutes!!!

Yes more great customer service this time of a non-quilty nature.

Having
diabetes has proved quite a trial over the last six months or so. I

have
been waking up with sugars which are quite high yet am not "hypo-ing"
overnight. What we've put it down to, was that my insulin doesn't last
the
full night. So there began a try it and see test. Finally (many $$)
later
we found an insulin that *seems* to be working. Yep you guessed it.
As
at
the middle of this year they are no longer going to produce it. A

better
insulin which does the same job will cost me over $100 a month -
completely
unaffordable. So my specialist says to buy up big on the current one.

To cut a long story short I also found that the makers of my Blood

Glucose
Monitor are discontinuing the test strips, rendering a perfectly good
machine useless. However (and the point of my story is) I rang the
manufacturer to get some info on new machines and she asked why.

"Because
you're not making the strips anymore". Suffice it to say, she informed

me
I'm entitled to a replacement machine, worth about $100 with free

lifetime
batteries and all at no charge - just give them the serial number of my
old
machine and I would have the new one in 10 days. It's here, in just 1
postal day (rang on friday got on monday!). Hows that for service?

So Roche Diagnostics in Castle Hill NSW - stand up and be proud - you

guys
are legends!!

You may now go back to your scheduled programs

I'm using novorapid during the day - between 15 & 18 units before meals, and
at night I'm currently on monotard - 38 units. Specialist has mentioned
(forgive the spelling, I'll do it phonetically) glowgeen - with the "ow" as
in ouch. But it's waaaaaaaaaay costly. Guess I'll have to wait and see

Debra - I LOVE THE MACHINE!!!

I ran some test stitches on different fabrics, practiced the fancy
stitches, tried without the foot pedal (touch button stop/start) and I
am in love!!! I will not be getting rid of the Kenmore, but it is in
need of a major cleaning and overhaul as it hasn't seen a professional
since it was first bought...I've been cleaning it and everything, but I
always end up with the same 2 screws left over and I can't for the life
of me figure out where they go!!

Will post more later.........

It sounds like you and your new machine will be spending many happy
years together. I'm glad you posted and that you are happy with your
purchase. I might be in a Target store soon myself.

I went to Target and looked at the EuroPro Shark machines. Sadly, no
9150, but there were other models. I didn't like the lowest priced
one, but the other two were really nice. If I had the money I would
have bought one. Alas, I must wait as home maintenance is taking a
serious toll on our funds this year. I know where I'll be looking
first when I do have the cash though.

I can't be of any help, but it seems that the bed wetting runs in the family
with my DH family. His nephew and our son wet the bed off and on, and
didn't stop until they were around 12 yr old. I sure felf sorry for DS. At
that time ( 30 yr ago) there was no medication for the problem.
