Default group fabric purchase

I could have sworn that within the last 2 weeks I saw on one of my
Yahoo or Google groups the mention of a group purchase of fabric.
Does this sound familiar to anyone or could you steer me in the right
direction?

Thanks, Carol

There are several coops out there, some for specific purposes like the
ones dealing with fabrics for cloth diapers, others for quilting cottons,
still others for fashion fabrics.

The one I belong to focuses on fashion fabrics, good quality stuff that
can be used in everyday or dressier clothes. It's been around for a
number of years, and is run on a very businesslike footing by someone
who knows her fabrics. So far, in the 2+ years I've been a member,
I've had nothing but good service -- nearly 2200 members in the group:
FabricsandNotions at yahoogroups, if you'd like to poke around in
the archives for the sorts of things offered. There's enough buying power
in that group that we can get in on things like specially dyed lots of
Malden Mills powerdry or even get special mill runs on some other fabrics.

Like anything else on the internet, take a look around the archives of a
group and investigate business practices before you invest much in a coop,
at least that's my suggestion.

Thanks for the info Kay. I have just joined that group within the
last couple of days. Have looked & poked around quite a bit, but for
the life of me cannot find anywhere a mention of how much the material
costs. I'm used to knowing how much something costs before I agree to
purchase. Maybe the final cost is dependant upon how many are
ordered? Any light you can shed would be great. I don't know enough
yet to know if this is a dumb question!
