(He was a gift from DD 18mo. ago). We have 1 son Josh married to Rebecca

somehow found eachother again with the help of DD Amanda through AOL. Josh
and Becca have 2 Labs, Jericho and Maverick, and one very strange cat named
Jack. Amanda DD is engaged to Jeff and they live in Little Elm, Tx with my
granddogs, Bella and Harley. They plan to get married any day now.

I have been quilting for about 2 year, but have always been in the creative
mode. This group is a great source everything quilting. I have met a few
of you face to face and that really is the fun part. Look for my pin near
Dallas and the photo of DH & I.

I'm Mel in England. I used to post here often but lately I've been
lurking more. I miss some of my friends I made here I used to chat with
often (waves hi guys!), but I've been trying to spend less time at the
computer and more time doing other things. It's about balance I suppose
and sometimes I find a lot of time for x but then I don't get to do y,
and a few months later the pendulum has swung again.

I asked my husband to put all my quilt photos on our website, but he
password protected them which defeats my purpose of sharing them with my
friends. I'll ask him to change it one of these days, but he's building
a cabin bed with integral desk, wardrobe, and shelves in our eldest
son's bedroom so I don't like to nag him with too many other jobs.

I have three kids aged 4, 5, and 7 who are the joy of my life. I've
given up trying to find a job which pays enough for taxes and childcare
and still leaves me enough money to make up for missing out on part of
my kids' day. So I'm a lecturer at a respected British distance learning
university, and I've recently started teaching guitar at my kids'
school. If that takes off (and it looks good so far) I'll offer my
services to other local schools. And if I can find some way to make a
little money from crafting somehow, I think I'll be able to fill my
time, make a useful amount of income, and feel fulfilled, whilst keeping
the flexibility to enjoy my children and manage our home. Best of all
worlds!

Default Roll Call!

Hello Everyone!

I'm Bonnie (in Missouri) and I've been lurking/sometimes posting for a
little over two years now. Between my job and family I never seem to have
the time to do much posting but I can say I sure have learned a lot here!
I've only been quilting for about 1 1/2 years but I am most definitely
hooked! I have a loving DH, two grown sons, a sweet daughter-in-law and a
granddaughter and grandson. Oh, and of course I have two QI's - Willow and
Echo - a couple of tabby cats that are VERY involved in my hobby.

I've only made three bed size quilts so far. I made I Spy quilts for my
grandchildren and this last summer I made a quilt for my brother who has a
terminal cancer. It was very special to me to be able to hand deliver his
quilt to him as he lives in Minnesota and I'm in Missouri.

Right now I'm working on a Thimbleberry wall hanging for my married son and
family and I hope to make a guitar wall hanging for my music major single
son. These are to be Christmas gifts and if I get them done I have a few
other Christmas projects in mind plus a puppet theatre and puppets for my
grandchildren.

Thanks Wendy for doing a roll call! I post so infrequently that I doubt if
anyone remembers me when I do! But I sure do have a wonderful time reading
the posts whenever I can! And I LOVE seeing all the wonderful work everyone
does! You all inspire me so much!

Best wishes to all!

I'm the newbiest of the newbies, I bet. I'm Sara, I live in Seattle, and
I've made a grand total of one quilt in my life -- but I plan on making
many, many more.

Default Roll Call!

Hi! I'm Leslie aka Leslie & The Furbabies in MO., Offical RCTQ Drama
Queen and Lady Lester, Royal Dilemma Dissolver- named so by Karen,
Queen of Squishies. I've been estatically married to The Hunky Mr.
Collins (He *does* have a first name- Sibley) for 13 months- between us
we have 2 daughters, 2 sons, their spouses and 4.75 granddarlings (the
..75 is due to be born in March!). We live in West Plains, MO. home of
the Gammill quilting machines- yep, you can find me on Frappr. The
Beloved Furbabies (aka The Tomato Thieving HairyButt Gang) are Missy (8
yr. old Golden Retriever who owns my heart and knows it), Simon (4 yr.
old Golden Retriever/Chow with a black tongue and a pointed head! LOL),
Daisy (1 yr. old German Shepard/Basenji the sweetest, most gentle
little girl you'd ever want to know) and Buttercup (6 yr. old calico
cat- outdoors since I'm allergic to cats- boohoo). All are strays
and/or rescues who now have a forever home- and we're always on the
look-out for another unloved/unwanted dog to bring into our little
family. You can see pics of The HairyButt Gang at:

http://community.webshots.com/album/326209428VIYOnw

Feel free to wander thru all the albums if you like!

I have been on RCTQ for 10 years now- I have made some GREAT friends
here. Pat on her hill is my sister cuz we decided our collective
parents goofed and didn't make us sisters- so we fixed that! I started
quilting in 1989, taught quilting for about 7 years in the 90s at the
local fabric store until it went out of business.

I make relatively simple and mostly traditional bed-sized quilts-
completely by machine. The furbabies are tough on quilts, so I have to
replace the bed quilts every 2-3 years as they are laundered to death.
I'm working on an over-sized king blue and golden yellow log cabin
with appliqued flowers and vines- pic on my Frappr. For my "real"
quilting I prefer more of an art quilt genre. I have so many ideas
flying thru my mind at the speed of light that I am always starting a
quilt project and then moving on to the next one! I have a large
collection of UFOs, WIPs, and PIGs. I wish I had more
"stick-to-it-ness" in me! I try hard to participate in every hug
quilt, but sometimes life and my #@$%& arthritis get the better of me
and I don't make the deadlines. I hope all hug recepients know that
even if I didn't get a block made in time that I still send my love,
hugs and best wishes to them.

A big WELCOME to the newbies and a howdy to the lurkers and hugs to my
dear friends!

Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.

Default Roll Call!

I absolutely LOVE this Roll Call post - not just to get to know
everybody, but the sharing that takes place. Thanks Wendy!

I'm Tina, in Houston, TX. I'm married to a wonderful man by 2 years
now, we've actually been together for 7 now! Whoopeee! I have two
kiddos, a girl/17 (this Friday) and a boy/9. QI's...a bratwurst of a
Dachshund/Aubrey, a big overgrown kid of a beagle/Freckles, The Queen
QI cat/Tinkerbell and the new kid on the block black kitty/Velcro.
Throw in a dying Beta fish, two hermit crabs a yard full of pet
squirrels, blue jays and doves..... well yeah, it's pretty much a
three ring circus around here.

I am relatively new to RCTQ, I joined, I think, about last February,
and am now a total addict and have RCTQ members permanently tattoo'ed
on my heart! I am also new to quilting, started a Memory quilt for my
mother, for Christmas last year, about this same time (and yes, I
finished it in time for Christmas!)

I love dark chocolate, especially dark chocolate English Toffee and NO,
I won't tell you where I keep my stash!

And as for the newcomers here - stick around, once you wade through my
depressing posts of late and all my mindless blathering on - you will
discover a beautiful, warm, funny, friendly family here. Help and
useful advice beyond your wildest dreams and love and friendship like
you just couldn't imagine anywhere else on the whole World Wide Web.

Yeah, can you tell I'm in love and grateful?
Hugs,
Tina

I've got a sweater on the needles right now. I'm using a varigated yarn
along with the fun fur yarn for my DGDs Xmas present. It's just a simple
pullover pattern in stockinette stitch. I've finished several hats, scarves
and mitten sets for other children in our circle of friends and family. I
love to knit when I watch TV because I don't have to look at it.

I've been mostly a lurker here.
I'm Susie from northern NY and yes I pinned myself at Frappr.
I started quilting two years ago, I am an avid bread baker, I started
knitting on October 1st and I will be doing machine embroidery "after"
Christmas.
I skim messages at times because there is so many and have lost touch
with what is going one here but do enjoy what I can take time to read,
Susie

How long have you been knitting.
I've made two hats and a scarf and 'trying' to make a sweater for
my grandson. I'm STUCK. LOL. I just don't understand the instructions.
Looks like Greek to me. )

I'm waving at you from the snowcovered foothills of the North Cascade
Mountains. (We're not in the snow...we're in the bottom of the river
valley although not IN the river like my Frappr balloon is......) I own
and operate a pizza restaurant here, which takes up a lot of my time,
but I do manage to get many quilted things done (mostly wallhangings
but a few full sized quilts). Yesterday I took my sadly neglected
mountain bike into the shop for a tune-up since I haven't ridden in
over a year, and realized that was where I got the time for quilting!!!
(Now I'll have to ride if I've spent money on her.... oh dear!!!)
I've been married for 34 or so years, have four grownup kids, four
grandkids, two step-grandkids. No QIs because I'm allergic to cats and
no time to sufficiently give attention to a doggie. I love dark
chocolate the best.
Right now I'm working on a wild wallhanging for my sedate little sister
as a Christmas gift. I figure if she doesn't like it, she can give it
back to me and I'll make her something else. Any excuse for more
quilting will keep me content!!
Welcome to the newcomers. This is the most friendly bunch of people
I've ever met. I think quilters in general are pretty special people!!!

I'm JoyceG in WA and have been participating in rctq for years. It's
been so long that I can't even remember when I started, but it was back
in the mid-90's! I'm an east-coast transplant living in western
Washington as my husband's job took us here. I've got 3 children - DD
who is a senior this year (looking at colleges is stressful!), and DS
#1, a freshman in HS and DS #2, a 6th grader. I have been quilting for
about 15 years or so, but my productivity rate is slow - life sure does
get in the way sometimes! I love to read, knit, do handwork and cook,
but not all at the same time. LOL.
