Was in your neck of the woods last week Debbie. We went to North Branch and
then Princeton to the quilt store then up to the casino in Mille Lacs. We
were about 20 miles from Isanti I think. The fall colours were fantastic.

What a great idea! Thanks, Renee.

Name: Debbie Oscarson

Home: Isanti, Minnesota, USA -- I don't mind giving it out because we're

on a
dead end dirt road in the middle of nowhere and even people who have

directions
sometimes can't find us!

Occupation: Right now, it seems like getting well is my full-time job. I

have
Sarcoidosis in my lungs, lymph nodes, bone marrow, joints and skin -- very

rare
disease in a very rare form, but, fortunately not a malignant type

disease,
rather an inflammatory/autoimmune thing like RA, MS or Lupus.

Age: Must we? OK, 50.

Past Lives: I was a legal secretary/assistant before becoming disabled.

Family: Married 11 years to my DH Ted. I have 2 kids from a previous

marriage
and Ted has 3.

Food: Chocolate, of course. Could we quilt without it? Also, pepper

steak,
egg foo yung, cheese cake, lasagna, almost anything at a Chinese buffet.

It
would be easier to list things I don't like, because there are so few.

QI's: 9 dogs -- 8 of them Pomeranians (used to show & breed) and 1

Brittany who
thinks she's a Pom. All house dogs, of course (no point in having them if

you
don't enjoy their company) and two large areas of our 3 1/2 acres are

fenced
for their pleasure and safety.

Machine(s): A Janome MC8000; a 1976 Elna SU on which I do all my piecing;

a
Pfaff serger; and a Juki TL98e on a Quilt Easy frame for machine quilting.
Also, DH has an industrial machine and does show car (street rod)

interiors.

Quilting For: About 7-8 years I guess, but sewing since I was 8 years old.

Quilt Assembly : I machine piece and machine quilt.

Quilt Style Preference: Mostly traditional pieced, some crazy quilting,

and I
like to embellish with machine embroidery.

Color Preference: I want one of everything!

Skill level: Advanced intermediate?

Posting/Reading frequency: Mostly lurk and read as time & health permit.

Interests other than quilting/fabric fondling/S.E.X.: Reading, cake

decorating,
knitting (hand & machine) and I just started gardening this year and

learned to
can salsa and pickles.

Pet Peeves: Pets allowed to run loose! I'm tired of seeing dead cats &

dogs
on country roads.

TV Shows: I'm ashamed to admit that I've taken a liking to that sleazy

new
show, Nip/Tuck on FX ;-) Also like the CBS comedies on Monday night.

Drive A: 1989 Honda Accord and a 1955 Chevy Bel Air and a 1964 Chevy El

Camino.
I forgot to mention old cars and car shows above.

Do you watch them late at night? With a big bowl of popcorn, some red wine
and no DH? ;-)

are sort of messed up---but all the rest are vintage!

Have you ever heard of Black Harbor?
After our vampire died he made another series (Canadian) I have that

Well drat! If you ever get bored and want to put them on a CD for me, I
would be most grateful, your Highness.

Elena, who wondered if in real life, do vampires act reeeeally boring
because they have a flashback every five seconds the older they are?

Judging by my own experience of organizing the Illinois/Indiana meet-up, I
think you will want to start a new thread on this too. The meet-up is
buried in a thread that's about something else, just like ours was, and a
lot of people have stopped reading this thread already. Free meet-up tip of

PAT in VA/USA, wondering who will organize this meeting in VA,

Hi,
That works for me. I live five minutes from GStreet Fabrics ( in

Potomac
Mills Outlet Mall - along I-95) The big IKEA is right behind the mall.
There is also a very large Hancock Fabrics and JoAnn Fabrics across the

street
from the mall.
See a little bit of everything for everyone. grin

Hello, Cindy --
Got any Joe Saia stories?

Nann
who was the director of the Pittsburg Public Library many years ago

Name: Cindy Pucci

Home: Frontenac Kansas

Occupation: DH & I own a small company. We are Administrators for some
small 401(k) Plans. DH is Health and Welfare Administrator for all of the
Union Pipefitters in the state of Kansas. Our office is in our house and I
get to go to work in my jammies! Yay!

Age: 48 (No WAY!)

Past Lives: Paid stuff - Union Secretary, Executive Director for County
Democratic Party (Wichita), Polital Education Director for all of the Unions
in South Central Kansas (another Wichita gig), Volunteer stuff - Women's
Clinic Support (Wichita), Usual School/PTA stuff, More political campaigns
than I care to remember.

Family: Married for 30+ years to a wonderful man who is never happier than
when I am doing stuff I love to do (and I feel the same way about his
hobbies) My Parents are deceased. One younger brother who exists to still
make my life miserable (KIDDING!), A Dear Daughter, about to turn 21, who is
a Junior at the University of Kansas.

Food: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Pepsi, and Thanksgiving dinner.

QI's: None. I lost my best friend of 15 years in July. My Muffin thought I
was the bestest thing in the world. I still watch where I step when I get
up because she was always laying at my feet. At first, I thought I never
wanted another one, but... I've never not had a dog and I miss it already.

Machine(s): DH decided I "needed" a new sewing maching for our 30th
anniversary in June. I came home with a Viking Designer1! I. Love. This.
Machine. Haven't done much besides straight sewing. Played with the
embroidery capability a little bit.

Quilting For: 6 months. I don't even know the language yet, that's how dumb
I am about this wonderful art. Both grandma's made quilts, so I already
have tons. Most of theirs are not works of art, however, but sturdy,
usuable quilts. The older they got, the BRIGHTER the quilts got! hahahha.

Quilt Assembly Preference: The only full-sized (baby) quilt I have tackled
was strip pieced. I have made several miniatures. I really love this. I
am in the process of trying to paper piece these tiny quilts. I can
certainly appreciate how much easier it's going to be.

Quilt Style Preference: Old, Granny Quilts.

Color Preferences: Pastels, faded Earth Tones - I have GOT to make myself
pick some bright colors.

Skill level: What's below "Beginner"?

Posting/Reading frequency: Read Daily, I try to only post when it
contributes something, but I have a hard time keeping quiet sometimes.

Interests other than quilting/fabric fondling/S.E.X.: Way too many
interests! I love paper - stamping - folding - embossing - punching! I
hoard gorgeous paper the way I hoard fabric. I collect hobby supplies.
Cause you never know. Someday, when I want to make something, I will have
all the stuff to do it. Some tole painting. I embroidery (Redwork is what
got me interested in Quilting). I love The Sims (I noticed someone else
mentioned that. I decided I like it because I HAVE to be in control) I
REALLY want to learn Heirloom Sewing. That's one of the reasons I bought
the D1.

Pet Peeves: How much time we got?? I think all of my Pet Peeves boil down
to one thing: Rude People Who Have No Consideration For Anyone Else.

TV Shows: Law & Order (Every version except for that one with that twitchy
guy. He makes me nervous), Monk, and all those true crime shows on A&E and
Court TV. I scare myself silly with those.

Drive A: 2003 Explorer

I'm just back from vacation, I hope I'm not too late to join in.

Name: Sherri Godfrey

Home: Stamping Ground, Kentucky, USA

Occupation: Retired Computer Programmer

Age: 43

Past Lives: This must be my previous marriage, and before that, my wild
single days. Best keep this hushed up!

Family: Married to the best DH in the world, 2 kitties: Clyde (aka the
Hopper), solid black male; Bonnie (aka BB), solid gray female, they are
collectively known as the Dickens, both 4 years old.

Food: Chocolate, brownies, fudge, chocolate cake, chocolate chip
cookies, Oreos, and of course most anything chocolate. Except ice cream,
this must be Breyers All-natural vanilla.

QI's: Bonnie and Clyde...see family above for more details.

Machine(s): 153 QE Bernina, 4 months old (my DH insisted I needed it as
a retirement gift, who am I to argue with him?)

Quilting For: About 3 months.

Quilt Assembly Preference: rotary cut , machine pieced, then machine
QITD. I like hand quilting, but it's time consuming, so I'll probably
be doing this sparingly. I've only quilted a wall hanging and a lap
quilt, I have no idea how I'll quilt anything bigger. Time will tell.

Quilt Style Preference: I want to try them all!

Colour Preference: I would love one of each fabric please. My stash is
definitely not up to raid standards.

Skill level: as low as it gets, I'm afraid.

Posting/Reading frequency: Read almost daily, post rarely. I hope to
have more to say as my experience grows.

Interests other than quilting/fabric fondling/S.E.X.: Reading
(mysteries, quilting books, love Jennifer's Elm Creek series,
recommended them to my Mom), cross-stitch, hardanger, internetting (way
too much).

Pet Peeves: I'm trying to be more tolerant as I get older, we all have
irritating things we do. But I guess I could say intentional
maliciousness.

TV: don't watch much, Simply Quilts, Inspector Morse, Sherlock Holmes,
Miss Marple, Law & Order, Robot Wars.

Drive A: 2002 Toyota Corolla

not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Jesus

Yeah, I thought of that too late John! Also realized it would
leave out the wonderful male RCTQ denizens. That was inadvertent,
and I apologize. I was just feeling silly ... and thought I'd
bring my Funky Chicken Quilt to the event, so it is kinda-sorta
on topic. In any case, I am not the organizer. Whoever wants
to rally the gang is welcome to post a separate announcement,
with appropriate subject line.
On to other topics now .... PAT in VA/USA
