OT New QI!

A large shaggy dog joined our household tonight. I've been looking for a dog
for a couple of weeks, and this one won the pet lottery! Spike, Giles and I
met him last week, and they thought he was great, even though he is nose to
nose with Giles. His foster "parent" brought him to our house this evening
to meet the rest of the family. Even DH (who is not a dog person) thinks
he's pretty neat. Very calm, very mellow, very big!

I was looking for a small-to-medium size dog, but he is 40 pounds and over 3
feet long! Long shaggy coarse fur, mostly black but sprinkled with white,
making him look like an old man. But we have been assured by a vet that he
is around 2 years old.

He came with the name Roscoe, but I'm pretty sure we'll be changing it. The
kids are all thrilled, as am I. He's such a sweetheart! He has already
flopped down on DH's quilt and decided it was a comfy place to lie. :-) I'm
afraid he's 4th in line (at least) for a quilt of his own, though. I wonder
if he'd prefer fabric with dogs on it, or with cats? Hmmmm.

He's adorable! He looks like he will be a great pet for your girls. Do

what you mix with a terrier to get a dog this size. Irish Wolfhound,
maybe?
He does have the coarse fur of a terrier, and the face of a terrier. Kind
of
like a Scottie, but with floppy ears, and three times the size.

Ol' Roscoe really lucked into it this time. He ought to get more than
his fair share of affection at your house. (He sort of looks like Bing
Crosby, give him a pipe and see if he starts crooning) RedQueen

Congratulations! He is fantastic. That name Roscoe suits him, but
I know y'all will come up with something else you prefer. That's
part of the fun. When you change the name, just call him with
double name (Roscoe-_____ ) for a while and eventually drop the
Roscoe.

IMO, with picture and your comments, I wonder if there is a bit
of Wire Hair Dachshund in the family tree. Yes, I understand he
is tall, but you never know what might happen. There is a dog in
our neighborhood that is some kind of Chihuahua and basset hound
mix. Bizarre!!! In any case, enjoy your new QI.

Mazel tov! He looks like a sweetheart! Actually he looks like a larger
version of our first dog, also adopted young, who lived to be 17 and is
still missed over 10 years later.

He's precious!!! Someday we will have a dog, but DH has said "not while
there are 3 cats already in the house!" I would suggest, for his quilt,
using fabric that had cats and fabric that had bones on it..of course,
you might want to throw in some fabric with cars on it..you know, the
sterotypical things that go with dogs...lol
