I know, I know, responding to my own post.

She's a geology major. What do you all think of "Fractured Crystals"?
Think I can do it? Google hits indicate it's intermediate/advanced.
Think it will work up ok in buttery yellow, black, and two accent
flowerish related prints?

-Charlotte

Personally I don't know why they think that this quilt is advanced. I
would say that it may be intermediate due to the different blocks needed
and getting the layout right. The actual blocks themselves are easy.

I think the colors suggested sound great- which ones to be the background
and which to be the "accent" color?

Good luck

I think I'm bashing my head against a brick wall with this one. It
really doesn't matter what people said to you off the group - that's
quite irrelevant to my point. You made an error and trod on peoples
toes. You compounded the error with attempts to tell us we were wrong,
and we are not. The charter forbids advertising IN ANY FORM, and
offering thing for sale (that is, in exchange for money) is
advertising. Let me quote your original post:

"Send a donation of one dollar, or whatever you wish, and I will send
you a heart quilt block for each dollar recieved."

So, in what way are you NOT selling , for a dollar a piece, these quilt
blocks? You are offering them in exchange for money: that's advertising
a sale. It's forbidden by the charter.

The reason for the sale is also irrelevant.

I'm now seriously bored with trying to detangle the illiterate postings
- I got away from teaching English to avoid that - so I'm going off to
do something more interesting, like frog stitching some zips...

So thats the email you got from me huh??? I dont even know who you
are... Nor did I send you an email...

Why would I call you a Bicth... and ask you to leave your group???
Secondly.. I havent been online since about 2 this afternoon.. I have
been in class all night.. so the email never came from me... Thanks..

Let me know what the whole thing says.. send it my way... I like how
people say if I am to apologize they would be open arms welcoming me
and get off on a new start yet I get comments like this...

And why do I still post here?? I know a few people.. and recieved some
great emails... from other people other than the "head hens", who dont
want to say anythign because they dont feel like listening to the
cackling.. dont take those words as mine.. they are from one of your
own.. I choose to post here because I feel like I should defend my
character... There are good people out there... other than ones who
have nothing but nastyness tosay to me...

Logically make sense ... nope... dont throw stones.. I didnt write
that... go ahead and post the whole email...

I don't usually do this, because I think people who email nasty
things to people ought to have the guts to post them publicly
themselves, if they truly believe in what they write. This is what
Cheyne emailed me just now:

You are a real bitch! Why don't you just leave this group.

Look lady.. I will be blunt yet again... This person doesnt have to
show their face to someone who is offering to drag them in the street
and beat them.. they dont have to be scared to ruin their character..
You can say mean words to me and call me a troll... *little immature
for you dont you think?* You words just make you look ignorant, not
me. I'm glad my posting makes you this angry.. and I am not even
trying, I have just been asking for help... and YOU DID call me an
ignorant Bitch... need I remind you of your email to me? I am not
afraid to say anything about myself.. my age... anything.. yet you are
trying to call out one of YOUR regulars to bitch at them also.. Who
cares.. they exist... they dont have to show their face to you... Just
know they exist..thats all that matters... That is for that person to
reveal their face... not me..

I responded to like words from this troll when I said these things.

And I certainly do wish that she would either stop lying about getting
this group from a frequent poster, or that she and the poster would fess
up. ANY regular member here knows the rules and guidelines by
now......or is this person ashamed that they encouraged this behavior
from an unknown?

It doesn't seem to be expressly forbidden in the charter (buried in
he http://www.faqs.org/faqs/crafts/textiles/faq/part1/) but that is
certainly implied by a lack of mention of advertisements in the list
of what it's for. It might be argued by some, though, that offering
quilty stuff for sale (or offering to buy) is in fact discussion of
quilts or quilty matters and so is allowable.

The rationale offered for the chartering of
rec.crafts.textiles.marketplace, however, implies more strongly that
non-.marketplace groups in r.c.t are not for advertisements.
(http://users.rcn.com/kdyer.dnai/arch_vote2.html) Even if it didn't,
I'd say the mere existence of r.c.t.m strongly implies that
buy/sell/trade posts should not be made in the other groups in the
hierarchy.

The above links were found in this Google search:
('charter rec.crafts.textiles.quilting')
http://www.google.com/search?q=chart...utf-8&oe=utf-8

This information was not difficult to find, but not entirely intuitive
for newcomers those who may not know they exist. Therefore I think
some degree of forgiveness, and a little gentle guidance to r.c.t.m,
is justified for first-time rule breakers.

The Earthlink news server I get this group from has messages going
back at least as far as 6/15/03, and the only posts about the FAQ I
see are from today. Perhaps a link to the FAQ page should be posted
regularly, maybe biweekly or so?

JA - who finally read the other FAQ postings after composing most of
this and knows it's a little redundant, but, dang it, is gonna' post
this anyway!

Okay, I'm going to step in here and reveal a secret - my starting weight

at
WW. NO-ONE except the weigher chick at WW knows this. I'm loathe to

admit
it because I am deeply embarassed. I weighed in at 125 kilos (that's
roughly 250 pounds). You say your mom is 100 pounds overweight - that is
not life and death, sad, not beneficial to her health yes, but not lethal.
You mum needs to work with her GP, and if necessary a specialist. She
doesn't have to alter her life dramatically - just cutting out butter on
toast/bread can help her to lose a pound a week which would very quickly

add
up. That's what I'm doing at the moment - little changes - and they have
added up to going from a tight size 26 to a comfortable size 18 in six
months. And what's better - IT HASN'T COME BACK!!

om...
I do work full-time... I WORK 60 HOURS a week.... as a pastry chef in
a restaurant in downtown Houston... I live in a CRAPPY apartment,
which I just moved into just so I could take a cut in rent... to help
my mom... I now live on the bottom floor so my mom can come visit me
because she cant walk up stairs at all..I cant take a semester off, I
am enrolled in a private college *Art Institute* where I have 40,000
dollars I owe regardless if I attend or not, my butt is signed into
that for life. If I take a semester off, they bill me for it as if I
was still attending, I also currently have a 4.0 GPA and have a few
women chef scholarships that ride on me being in attendance, or I will
lose those too... So in otherwords, you tell me to give up the only
chance I have to succeed in life to help my mom yet I am doing
everything I can to help her.... I get no sleep.. I work and do
homework all day long... I have no car... I am sewing quilt blocks to
TRY AND raise some extra money besides what I set aside from the cut
in my rent.... I am still a child... what can you say you knew at 22??
The same as you know now???? If thats the case then I should be a
genius?? I have a whole life to learn, and being 5 feet tall doesnt
help any.
My mom is over 100 lbs overweight... she has done the research believe
me... She knows this can help her, everything else hasnt... AT least
its a shot... You make it sound like, if you had a chance to survive
from cancer by getting chemo one more time, you wouldnt do it... just
because it COULD have the possibility of NOT working... Its worth the
try...

You arent trying to slam me, yet everything you said was a direct
slam... I am doing what I can.... I work, I MAINTAIN a 4.0 GPA, I cut
my rent back... I am living on a sandwich a day, sewing quilt
blocks.... and consistently attending all classes and school which run
from 7 in the morning to 11 at night...

I didnt ask to be hurt... and if anything... my feelings have just
been crushed... I didnt ask for you to give me money... I just asked
to trade... :*(

If you were hurt, you would want your daughter to do the same... or
would you be honored your daughter did this?? MY mom doesnt know I am
doing this for her... I just want to repay her for the love and
support she has given me...

You really should say who referred you as this is not something that a
regular member would do

a daughter who is
only 22,

I am just a child asking for some help.

These last 2 statements are contradictory. A person who is 22 can no
longer be considered a child. Also, if the situation is so dire, not
returning to college for a semester might be a better option -

instead,
what about working full-time to help earn the money needed to defray

the
cost of medical treatment? Everything I have read has said that
gastric-bypass surgery is something that is *not considered for tha
majority of people, and they must be at least 100 pounds overweight.

In reading your original post, you have mentioned issues that affect

my
mother as well - thyroid problems, blood pressure, arthritis. I am

not
asking for help for my mother, but am doing everything I can to see

that
she gets the help that she needs. She is still able to work, adn so

she
does so. She takes medicine for her thyroid, which may or may not

help,
medicines for depression and fibromyalgia, and who knows what else as
she has chosen NOT to keep me posted of her continuing medical

troubles.
Several times, my DH and I have sent her money to help her out with
finances because she needed to use her money for doctors visits and
medicines.

I am not trying to slam you, just suggesting that, instead of

furthering
your education (especially if there are children at home that your
mother is having difficutly taking care of), take time to work and

earn
some money to help with everything. College will still be there.
