Women's shelter it is. DH and I are active in supporting one about 35 miles

everyone's input. I especially appreciate the big hearts of the people who
want it returned to NanaV, but I'm afraid that can't happen. Our dear
little conniver now has 3 different addresses attached to her name, and a
contradictory letter to her credit, which was included when she sent the Hug
back. I'm leaning more towards fear of police (which was talked about here)
rather than smitten conscience that provoked the return. Be that as it may,
I can vouch for the fact that her name is not on the quilt, and the power of
love in the quilt has returned to it full force. : ) Thanks again,
everyone.

Wow! What a surprising development.
Maybe the love in the Hug caused a little bit of good to be felt by NanaV?
Restores ones faith in human nature a bit doesn't it?

Morags are the voice of reason and sanity!

I'm doing well, as well as can be expected when you're 36 weeks pregnant -
any advice on how to encourage baby number 2 out in the next 2 weeks

greatly
appreciated!

We MORAGS agree. Send it on to a shelter where it will go to someone
who will love it back.

How are you doing, Morag in Oxford?

Just a suggestion - and don't anyone bite my head off for this - but
whilst I am fully in favour of the idea of donating it to the Womens
Shelter, won't they think its rather odd to get just *one* quilt with
lots of loving sentiments on it?

Methinks that mebbe another should join it - and I for one would love to
make a block or two for it.

Oh I don't know about a conscience - I think the threat of internet fraud
and a report to her local police was a very strong motivator to do the
right thing. A felony on your record is not an easy thing to rid one self
of.

Who threatened?
Dang, leave for a week, miss all the excitement...
OR, was it not discussed in ng and left for private email?

There's just one problem with trying to auction it on ebay---you won't
get much $$ for it at all. Have you ever looked at the bids on handmade
quilts on ebay? For example, I just saw a log cabin done by a
professional long-arm quilter. The only bid on it is $39.99 and the
auction ends in a little over 3 hours. There's a 30's era grandmother's
flower garden and the bid is only $199. We all know it's worth way more
than that.

I know a couple people that tried to sell some family quilts from the
30's on ebay. They were in very good condition and didn't get any
bidders.

Unfortunately, the ebay quilt market has been flooded with too many
"handmade in China" type quilts and there really isn't much of a market
for a true handmade quilt.

What felony was committed? I don't think the police would be very
interested in "she tricked us... AGAIN".

I can't find a single instance where the woman asked for anything other than
a prayer. Even if she had ASKED for a quilt because she was in poor health
or whatever and did manage to sell it, no crime was committed. I just
called my SIL who is an assistant prosecutor and she laughed at me. She
asked, "did she solicit money? No. Did she come into anyone's house and
steal the quilt? No, it was given to her. Then it was her quilt." End of
story. No crime. My SIL said she probably sent it back because she was
afraid of being embarrassed publicly.
