Default Jade

I'm going to Hong Kong next week and hope to make a stop at the Jade Market
there. Does anyone have any hints on how to select good quality jade or
know of a web page to give this info.

Thanks,

Win

Yep,

Keep your hands in your pockets and only buy from reputable jade dealers.

These people have been in the jade business for many hundreds of years. They
love guys like you, who have gotten their "knowledge" about jade from a web page
or have received jade buying hints from "others" they don't even know.

I have a feeling, that can tell you whatever I want about jade, and you would
just eat it up, just because I am some guy with "expertise" in an online forum
frequented by jewelers. You know nothing about my expertise, or anyone else's
here.

There is no way I can explain the many different color shades and hues of jade
in a few lines online, just so you have some "hints" about buying jade in Hong
Kong. Or how about all the different colors, or do you think all jade is
green? You may want to do a search on "Nephrite" and "Jadeite", if you want to
know a bit more about jade.

Watch out for dye jobs, although you don't know how to.

That said, a couple of good rules of thumb a

1: If you pay very little for a piece of jade, most likely is is worth exactly
what you paid for it.

2: If you pay a lot for a piece of jade, it may be worth exactly what you paid
for it, or you may have been taken to the cleaners and paid way to much for it.
It will most likely NOT be worth MORE than what you paid for it.
