Introductions! OT

I take a low dose of Effexor, an
antidepressant, which is the only thing that allows me to enter stage D
sleep.
Not entering stage D sleep would give anyone chronic pain. (I don't take
Effexor for depression.)

What is stage D sleep?

I know I'm reading this kind of late, but I loved this story. My DH
runs a 4-H camp in the Sierras for a hundred or more kids age 10-18
and he doesn't understand why I don't want to go too. I tell him I've
been taking care of kids for 25 years why would I consider this
vacation? I enjoyed the quiet at home. Oh yes, popcorn makes a great
dinner too (grin)

Why?

Because Bob has the girls for the next eight days, by himself. He took them
to our usual Spring Break spot in Carolina Beach, NC. (We rent the same

Yeah, my first response to any doctor or psychologist who doesn't behave
as I wish is to never see them again. I've been through a lot of them.

Um, NO.

My best friend has trouble with pain from her pacemaker wires poking her
chest cavity lining (yay) and her doctor tried to give her an
antidepressant. She looked at her... and said "You must not have heard
me... I am perfectly HAPPY, but in PAIN. Is there anything you can do
about the PAIN?"

I've had a similar experience, oh so many times. What I love is when I
said "I don't need antidepressants, because I am not at all depressed"
and the doctor said "Why don't you just try them" ???!


I suspect the next thing I said would have been, "You're fired." Well... *now*
I would have said that. At your age, I would probably just have started looking
for a new doctor as soon as I left his office. Doctors who don't listen to
their patients are a Major Pet Peeve, and sexist doctors who want to
overmedicate "hysterical women" are another.
