question about embossing
Hi, I'm a beginner to rubber stamping and just tried embossing for the
first time yesterday. I followed the steps... ink stamp with pigment ink, stamp paper, cover stamped image with powder, tap off excess, set with heat gun. I used a gold embossing powder and it came out very nice, but I noticed that when I touched the embossed image, a very thin film of powder (?) ended up on my finger.... sort of like how some metallic tissue papers make of mess of your hands. I'm wondering if this is normal or if anyone might know the cause if it's not normal... Thanks, Melissa |

I have not run into that particular issue, though maybe someone else has and will reply later. There was one powder I used that had a tendency to flake off even after heat setting. It also came out flat rather than shiny/embossed, even though from the labeling it should've been the same type of powder I'd used before, though not the same brand. So I think there is probably a brand difference, based on that experience, that might be causing your problem. Of 3 bottles of gold powder now, PSX, Stampin Up, and the other brand that rubbed off (can't remember the brand name), PSX has been my favorite. Sorry I don't have any more info for you! Barbara |

question about embossing
Some of the embossing powders have tinsel in them and they are harder to set
than the others. You can actually over heat them. -- Connie K Bartley Pages done for this month = Total pages for the year so far = Swap things done = poems, cards, dolls Toppers , tags "Barbara Hass" wrote in message ... question about embossing
Thanks for the suggestions! I played around a bit more with the
powders today. I had bought 4 colors (silver, gold, brass, clear) of the same brand... and only the gold one gives me the problem. The other ones worked well, no rubbing off. So maybe I just got unlucky picking the gold :-/ - Melissa |

question about embossing
Hi Melissa,
I think sometimes the gold can be difficult. Black Embossing powder seems to be the worse. Took me a long time to learn that one! MA "Melissa" wrote in message oups.com... Thanks for the suggestions!
