Default Aprons ??

I just read an article in country living this month that
discussed collecting antique aprons. I have been collecting
them for years and have quite a few lovely but fragile aprons.
most of mine are from the fiftys and sixtys. I buy them at the
better second hand stores, and think that I'm going to go out
this week and hit the stores again with a few dollars looking
for them; since I know this will make them all disappear and
the prices jump through the roof.

my question is this - is there a particular style or design
that seems to be easiest to replicate for modern versions ?
I'm thinking of making a few to give to friends and relatives,
as gifts; from some of the fancy small pieces and leftovers
in my fabric chest. any and all suggestions and pattern tips
as well as urls are appreciated highly.

cheers,
