Default Incognito (terrific!) author was "A Crewel World" by Monica Ferris

I agree with everyone that Monica's novels are wonderful and great fun
(and do accurately peg certain aspects of Minnesota culture ;-O). Did
you know that in addition to writing the Betsy Devonshire/Crewel World
novels, Monica Ferris is also Mary Monica Pulver, author of the Peter
Brichter police detective novels set outside Chicago? Terrific twisty
detective stories, quite a bit 'darker' in tone than the Crewel World
series but so true to the twists of real life it can be scary :-) And
if you also happen to be an SCAer or would like a window on that
world, the MMP novel "Knight Fall" takes place at "The War" i.e. the
annual mock war SCA wages/celebrates every year.

Keep on writing, Monica!!!! (Could we have another MMP novel in
addition to Betsy, please?)

*grin* I do happen to be an SCAdian, and I've heard quite a bit about this
particular book - I've not had the opportunity to do Pennsic yet (that's
"The War"), but those friends of mine who do have assured me that she
manages to capture many of the more colorful characters who attend every
year. I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, though , so I'm going to
have to get at and read it one of these days. I'm not normally a fan of
mysteries, but for an SCA-themed book, I'll make an exception! ;-)

spindles")
