Howdy!
I've quilted many a top that was appliquéd w/ (weak) silk thread, and re-quilted a couple that were quilted w/ the silk. I'm sticking w/ the cotton handquilting thread single strand, no wax. ;-) Wonder how long that instructor has been using silk to quilt...? It's a personal preference; whatever works for the individual quilter. I still use some Coats&Clark poly/cotton handquilting thread, but for me, Gütermann rules. Ragmop/Sandy "Johanna Koski" wrote in message ... At a class I was taking, the instructor said to use double silk thread if we hand quilt. Does this mean to double the thread? I thought in hand quilting we use a single thread. I feel so dumb. Can somebody give me the right answer? Thanks. If you use silk, then it's double. You would think that it's durable, but it surely isn't. But if you quilt with cotton, then one strand is enough. Johanna -- Johanna Koski Finland, Europe |
