Default Question about Minkee

I'm making a quilt for my DH and he likes the feel of minkee for the
backing. I only have 2 yards of it (bought at a quilt show) and will have
to buy more, however I don't know much about it. How would it be for
backing and should it be washed first. Thanks for any help.

Not too sure about the Minkee for the backing. Have you thought about
fleece?? (Like Polar Fleece, not sweatshirt fleece) I love doing
backings with it, it is 60" wide and not as stretchy as Minkee.

I've seen quilts recently with Minkee as a backing & the most surprising
thing is that one I saw last weekend was pretty heavily quilted & it looked
great. I'd go for it. Be sure you baste well.

I bought mine at a quilt show in Hershey, PA. I can't seem to locate
anymore either. I'll probably end up with fleece backing anyway.

If you're looking for Minkee, try Carly over at www.webfabrics.net
She has it. Not affiliated, yadda, yadda, but a very, very satisfied
customer. (Tell 'er I sentcha and she'll put a happy tick mark on my
account.)

I have seen minkee at a few shops in the area. Some online shops also
carry it, including http://www.bighornquilts.com/. It's probably too
late to order online if you want it for Christmas.

Forgot the rest of my message--Fabric.com has Minkie.
Use their search and just type in Minkie.

Howdy!

http://www.virginiaquilter.com/
"This fabric is about 60” wide and 100% polyester. Machine wash warm, mild
detergent, delicate cycle, tumble dry low, remove promptly. Do not bleach."

It's that polyester content that loses my interest;

it's a personal non-preference. g

Good luck!
