Ugly Fabric

I am in an ugly fabric challenge. My guild gave us a gift bag that we
are supposed to fill with ugly fabric and notions. then in September
all the bags will be on a table and we go pick on not knowing what is
inside or who it is from. then in October we will get instructions on
what we have to do. So, I want to try to give really, really ugly
fabric. I am hoping some of you will donate to me some really ugly
fabric no smaller than a 12" square. I haven't been in the directory
for a few years. If you reply on here I will get my address to you.

Oh, send me your address! I found some "oh-good-heavens-why-did-I-buy-
that" stuff over the weekend.

Nothing here that I'd call truly ugly but I do have some that is rather
dazzling. Do you think that painfully bright will fit in? I have some that
would even make Kaffe run for cover. Polly

I really want to see this project when it's done! sometimes the
"uglies" turn into
real swans!

The first cruise we went on had an ugly fabric challenge----it was a
sewing-embroidery cruise. About a month before the cruise the coordinator
made out the swap partners list and we sent a yard of ugly fabric to our
partner, and exchanged the finished products the first night. My partner
made a beautiful black velour evening bag, with the ugly fabric a the
lining. As soon as I received her fabric I knew immediately it must be a
vest. Fortunately, I'd met her at trade shows, so knew the approximate
size. She cried when she opened it, saying no one had ever made her
anything. She wore it for dress up night at dinner, and it looked so dressy
with nice slacks. I was so happy she liked it.
Please try to get pictures once your projects are done. I love challenges
like this.

our guild did a version of the ugly fabric thing. we all brought a meter
of ugly fabric to the year end potluck and passed the fabric like
musical chairs. we all went home with a half meter of one and fat quater
of another, fat eighth etc. anyway 6 pieces out of which we have to make
something for fall. Mine are really ugly and do not compliment each
other at all. ha!

I have just the perfect fabric for you! Send me your address and it is all

Send me your addy and I will fill an envelope. Must tell you that I
used what I thought was truly ugly fabric as a test sample when the
Magic Stack and Whack technique first was published. It turned into
one of the most striking quilts I have ever made. I agree with Polly
that there is no truly ugly fabric.
