Default US and UK knitting needle sizes?

Can anyone help me with the different needle sizes? There was a very useful
post some time ago and although I printed it and put it away safe I can't
find the printout. (Tidiness never pays :-) ! ) Also what are the
different types of yarn in the US and the comparable yarn in the UK eg.
worsted? 4 ply, 3 ply 2 ply. Are they the same as the English equivalent?

Have been so busy spinning that knitting has taken a bit of a back seat -
but want to try a lovely little hat but it is an American pattern and am not
sure what needle sizes and yarn type to use.

Please help

Love to all

Andee

Hi Noreen

Many thanks :-)

Hope all is well with you and, of course, everyone else. I am working up to
a 'New Year's Resolution' of not trying to do more than I can cope with! My
Mother always called it 'biting off more than you can chew'! Think I have
to cut back and spend more time in the newsgroup. Having said that I have
managed to complete about 15 scarves, three little jumpers, a knitted
handbag and an Aran cardigan. I am now making an Aran jumper for myself but
I have run out of steam.......

Had a great event with my charity, Action Cancer, called 'The Moon's a
Balloon' where we launched nearly 2000 pink balloons from Northern Ireland
with labels asking the finder to return it to us and we would send them a
prize for the one that travelled the farthest. I got a reply from Slovakia!
(which was the farthest) and one from Germany! Lots arrived back from
Yorkshire and Nth Lincs in England. I am in the process of writing to all
the people who sent back labels and thanking them for taking the trouble.

I think all of that is OT........

All the best
Andee

Your order went yesterday. You should have received a UPS tracking number by email.

Roger.
