Wasn't someone looking for a Marbek "celestial" angel pattern ?

Sometime this summer I think someone on here said she was looking for a Marbek "Angel" pattern for a friend of hers. I can't find the original post or I would be writing her back personally. Marbek doesn't make a "celestial" angel (although they make lots of other ones) but they do have a pattern called "Starlight Angel" and maybe that is what she meant. Rebecca *did* have a Limited Edition Celestial Angel. It was a 10th anniversary edition, released in 1986, limited to 2000. It's even more difficult to find than some of the older Marbek's! jenn -- Jenn Ridley WIP: Santa Christmas Stocking, Will Work for Freezer Space, Emperor's Coat, Stretch Most recently Finished: Turnberry Ridge, Noah's Journey, SPRING Flowers |

Actually, Marbek did make a special "Celestial Angel" back in 1986 (give
or take a year) which was a very limited edition with only so many signed original patterns made. IIRC, it was the Marbek 10th Anniversary Angel (?). I know because I stitched her in 1989 for my beloved grandmother. This delicate and serene angel is shown in 3/4 profile, with gently uplifting arms. Her flowing gown is a warm cream color with embellished metallic thread. The ground fabric was light blue 32 ct lugana (?) and stitched over-one. Couching is also used in the design. Back then, I had to "borrow" the original pattern from my LNS owner with a $25 deposit, purchase the kit/materials, then return the pattern once I had completed the Angel to get my deposit back. The pattern came in a very fancy, heavy duty folder and envelope, too. The kit used au ver a soi threads (lovely to work with). Oh, I remember I disliked the red and black symbols that Marbek/Serendipity are so fond of using! I can find my signed original of the Marbek Celestial Angel for more information if it's requested (I purchased an original "Celestial Angel" after I had stitched her just to have her in my stash). Just for fun and if I remember, I'll try to find her during lunch. Sweet Stitching!!!!!!! Helen (Skyhooks) hmardis *aht* uiuc "daught" edu "reply to" address antispammed -- frog the xxx. It is a pattern and not a kit (like the James Himsworth Dimensions Gold "Celestial Angel" kit. I'm not sure where she can find a place that still sells this pattern, but here is the page I found it on: http://www.serendipitydesigns.com/Ma...tc/be-31_starl ight_angel.html Of course she could also give her friend the main Marbek Designs URL where they have a link to see all their "Angels" patterns: http://www.serendipitydesigns.com/index.html as well as other things listed there! Hope this helps and if someone knows the date of the post of the original person who posted the request I'll go back and send this to her personally Hugs, Owlfriend |

OK, I found my chart for Serendipity's (and Marbek's) "Celestial
Angel." Apparently only 2000 were printed. The chart I have is 1124/2000, but the folder is 1123/2000 (!). It's copyrighted in 1986 by Rebecca W. Waldrop-Marbek, Inc. and published by Serendipity Designs, Inc. I didn't see it on the Marbek website so that is probably why I couldn't
find it for her. I'm still not sure who requested this pattern, but at least if she gets back on the newsgroup she'll know that it was in exsistence, even though it was a limited printing. Also, if her friend really wanted the "Starlight Angel" by Marbek now she knows where to go So I guess it all worked out Hugs, Owlfriend "Skyhooks" wrote in message ...
