Default "New" sewing machine.......

Well, I did it. Bought another sewing machine. For a good cause. It is
a Singer Stylist, but does need a "gear replaced" (??) I only paid $10
for it, no extra pattern disks but it looks like a good machine.
Now..... Is it worth fixing?? (One of my quilt groups was having a
rummage sale today and I was out very early helping set up and grabbed
this machine. G So the $10 was a donation anyway, and I figured even
spending a hundred bucks or so to fix the machine was reasonable, if it
is indeed as good a basic machine as I think. )
So, anyone have any opinions about this machine?
