elastic help!!
I've never been too successful with elastic bracelets.
I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.....cuz some have exploded or just come apart. I know I'm doing something wrong.... ANYWAY! A friend wants me to string some beads on elastic for her daughter. I've done that - with two strands of .5mm elastic. I've done a surgeon's knot. But is that it? Shouldn't I glue it? I've glued with Aileen's jewelry glue (dries clear), but that seemed "clumpy". And it seemed to me that someone said "never" use 5-second glue on elastic cuz it "eats" it or something.... Any suggestions? Should I glue? If so, with what? [Oh, and kinda in a hurry.] :-/ TIA!!!!! Susan in VA -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

Hi Susan,
I use clear nailpolish when using stretch elastic, although like you I prefer not to use it at all. If you coat the knot in clear nail polish and then slide a bead over the know while the polish is still wet, it will set hard over the knot and lock it under the bead. Cheers, Kylie PS I use a 'square knot' I think it's called....left over right three times and right over left three times and pull it taut while you coat the knot with polish.
