Was she winking because she was flirting with the men in the audience,
or was she winking because those stupid bangs were falling in her eye
and annoying her?

I just looooooove seeing her interviewed by women who don't get
distracted by her flirting and keep reminding her of the question until
she answers it and demonstrates that she doesn't know the answer, or
knows a single buzzword that she's going to repeat ad nauseum.

As one of my professors used to describe it "answering the question you
know the answer to, and not the one I asked", or "answering the question
you WISH I had asked."

Speaking as a former HS/college debate judge, I was not impressed. And
she'd want to handle my score sheet with asbestos gloves.

Flirting. Still, barf.

Ditto.

I see it also as answering with a question. Are we the only ones
seeing this? Are we in the twilight zone?

Not to diminish your debate ability, but a chimpanzee could have
answered with sign language better.

Was anyone but me insulted by her cutesy, folksy ways and her totally
ignoring Gwen Ifell as though she were a fly on the wall?

Having worked for an almost 100% women's organization I can say that VERY
few (that probably should read NONE) of the women I worked for and with
didn't behave like teenage ingénues when they were speaking in front of a
crowd. Oh, I suppose I should add that they knew what they were talking
about as well.

I wondered how long it would take for the upcoming election to make it into one
of our discussions.

Palin's mannerisms totally turned me off but I've asking myself if I'd accept
her style if she were spouting things I agreed with. OTOH, I was impressed by
how well she was able to regurgitate what she had been coached on.

Aw shucks, Darn it Anne!!!! A reasonably intelligent 10 year old can cram
for a test and pass with flying colors.

I'm quite sure you knew I would answer this way and I didn't want to
disappoint anyone.

Bear in mind we are voting for the President, and hopefully the
vice-president will just be doing the normal VP chores.

That said, I know that there is only one candidate for whom I *can* vote
to be president, so the angst is out of the way.

Gotta say that NONE of the presidential candidates (including Rep.
Cynthia McKinney LOL) fill me with great excitement.

President's have been assasinated in the past and/or dropped dead from a
health issue so it has to be at least a consideration. A small one, but an
existing one.

That's what our government is all about. Freedom to vote as you please.

Even though she got Roseanne Barr's endorsement???? l.ol

I guess it's seeing an end to the project I'm working on that can't be put
aside because it's a gift, being invited to a lovely holiday dinner at a
friends house that will include a few good friends and her family, great
weather today dry and just warm, not hot and Puff curled up at my feet
gently snoring the morning away.

Happy New Year--

Lucille

Lucille - we do share some of the same happiness is...

Health - for all of us, and the fur faces (feathered as well)

Sun shining, a nice breeze, seeing light at the end of the tunnel, a good
cuddle with the DH, Puckster, in front of the fireplace (in winter) on the
comfy couch - with stitchin or knitting happening.

Sometimes happiness is just looking around - out on a hike, drive, and
seeing the beauty around - and not worrying about some catastrophe of life
for the moment.

Happiness is a warm dog to cuddle with ... until she takes over the bed
and I'm sideways in the bed, pressed up against the headboard. ;-

Hard to believe in a queen sized bed with a cocker spaniel cross dog but
it's possible!

Cheers,

Sharing that disbelief. A 60# English Springer has figured out how to take
up more than half a king-size! No longer content with his 1/3...he's now
getting more demanding. But what can you do when the pup wants to put his
head down to hear mom's heartbeat (we think this is from him being alone
more lately). Eventually....we can convince him to go "lie down" or "go to
your cave" (lie down - means lower corner of bed along my legs - cave is
his bed that moved to under a desk).

All the hockey gear that can be washed is washed... Well until tonight that
is....

Cheryl, when you say the hockey that can be washed, do you mean in the
machine? If yes, which pieces? I've been using Febreze and
handwashing, with less than stellar results, and it's a loooong
season!

Louisa

I wash her "cup", his shorts that hold up the socks, the wicking underwear,
the socks, skull caps and jerseys. Everything else just airs out well.

And still smells.

Cheryl

Louisa - I have become the queen of hockey wash....Pants, shirts, socks,
hockey socks, unders, elbow pads (if they don't have hard shells) - all in
the washer. Cold, active wear cycle - the wicking stuff means no softener.
I wash all the ref gear (including the soft shin pads with the inner hard
shells removed, and elbows) and the playing gear as above. I only wash the
hockey pants occasionally - when they didn't get aired out... Same for the
goalie chest protector - it gets hosed off outside. But, I have washed
hockey pants (usually remove the hard kidney protector pad if you can slide
it out) and definitely if it's a girdle - that gets washed from time to
time.

But, the best hint I can give you is to use the Dishwasher for:
Shin pads - (face up, inner down on the top rack)
Elbow pads - fit them anywhere (usually top as well)
Shoulder pads - stand them kind of in the lower rack
Helmet - but not with any plexiglass visors - sits on top rack

Wash normal with NO HEAT dry, and use GEL Detergent (important). Works like
a charm. They'll be dry on their own in about an hour or so.

Got this from a Little CAPS parent about 11 years ago, and done it ever
since. Keeps the disgusting smells from growing, and clears up all that
bacteria which starts to linger. My hockey gal-pals and I would probably do
our stuff about every 4-6 weeks. In between the key is making sure it comes
out to air dry. DH sets up a circulating fan near his rack of drying stuff.

Trust me - this works and is worth the cycle of the dishwasher. Those
underneath pads tend to get really smelly with adolescent (and adult males).
I also wipe out the helmets with anti-bac hand soap, and the chin cup, etc.

Good for you! Congratulations and enjoy those benefits!

Ditto - and thanks for the inspiration - as I'm on the opposite side of
trying to work of the huge weight gain!

Another happiness - skating - well - again.

And fitting into my riding stuff - again....to go with the wished for horsey
