The Chamberlain Society
Hello,
I am of the understanding that in one of the volumes published of "The Chamberlain Society", in it are letters written by Letitia Hargrave, the wife of Chief Factor James Hargrave at York Factory, in the 1850's. She writes about the needlework Miss Davis taught at her school in the 1850's in St. Andrews, Manitoba, Canada. I have contacted our universities, and one has replied with a great personal interest, offering no guarantee, when they will get to this reasearch project. With having done an online search, it appears her letters and those of her son, are in volume XXVIII...... Can anyone assist me? If so, could you please send me copies of those letters pertaining to the needlework? Thank you! Margaret Smith Winnipeg, Canada |

It's possible that some of her materials may be there. And, IIRC, the HB archives are located at the Manitoba archives. Yes - here's the link http://www.gov.mb.ca/chc/archives/hbca HTHs Marg |
