Default I know there are no Quilt Police, but...

....this quillow I'm making for a friend at work (because *I want to* -
see previous threads on this subject!!!) I'm running out of time and
energy to machine-quilt it on my tiny table thats only just big enough
for my Bernina...

Its foundation-pieced crazy log cabin, 3 blocks by 4, they are 9
inches wide and theres 3 inches of sashing in between them, then
theres a 3 inch border round the edge. I've managed to machine-quilt
SITD around the edge of each of the 12 squares to stabilise them, and
around the edge of the quilt between the sashing and the border.

My question is, as I now intend to hand-quilt the logs of the
individual blocks, will this look odd with the fact that the outside
of each block is machine-quilted? I figured it would be easier to curl
up on the sofa with the quilt in a hoop, as I can have 3 needles on
the go at once to do each side of each block at the same time...its
still gonna be SITD but just by hand rather than machine.

What do you think?

I don't see a problem with doing some hand stitching combined with what
you've already done. I've combined both in a couple of quilts -- usually I
hand quilt the blocks and then meander by machine in the borders.

You will be surprised at how well handquilting and SITD work together. Go
right ahead.

I never hand quilt but I've sure combined MQing styles--SITD w/ free motion
and various threads--and it's looked fine to my eyes. My guess is it'll look
just fine.

Sounds like a good plan to me! If I bring over my latest project, will you
have the box of chocolates handy? Just kidding...I think.

I did this with a baby quilt - that one I sent you a pic of. It is SITD by
machine, then I hand quilted little stars and hearts and stuff in the big
squares. I finished the machine quilting, and then did the binding, and did
the hand-quilting in the car on the way to her house. It was a long trip -
16 hours, so I got it done!

Wendy, please assure us that you were not driving and hand-quilting. Faint

No, I only machine quilt while I drive. Hand-quilting tends to distract me
from my cell-phone conversations.

I hate to hand quilt when I drive, it's makes it real tough to balance my
coffee and donut.
