Default Cancer Society Auction quilt show

I have uploaded the photos that I took today while viewing the quilts
that are a part of the Canadian Cancer Society quilt auction. The
display was held at a local Lazy-boy furniture gallery so it was nice
to see all the quilts accessorized. Webshots page:

All of the quilts have a story attached to them, all of them are
memorable - Enjoy, jennellh (change the mail to news)

Thanks, jennelh! There were some really lovely quilts
there. I especially liked the HST of flower prints ...
quilt number 4 I think. One quilt had several Mother
Goose blocks. I wonder if those patterns came from the
book written by our friend Rita, in Florida?

Hi Pat, the following is pasted from the quilt's story line - as you
can see, specific origins for the blocks aren't named.
"Once upon a time in a nursery rhyme was the theme of the 2004 Summer
Block Challenge at the Richmond Area Quilters Guild in Richmond,
Ontario. Members dug out Mother Goose books, and put their imagination
to work stitching up blocks. It was hand quilted by members on a large
frame during the winter. It was shown at the International Ploughing
Match 2005. It won first place at the Richmond Fair 2005"........
I also liked the floral HST quilt - it was certainly eye-catching.
Thanks for looking at the photos, jennellh (change the mail to news)

I helped to "white glove" at our local Lazyboy store last summer.
Unfortunately, they are remodelling the store this year, and the quilts
aren't coming to Kingston :-(

From a breast cancer survivor, thank you for sharing. I along with 2

other net quilting buddies, did one. It comes up for auction in
August. I really liked the second quilt on the third page.

All the quilts are displayed at thequilt.ca website if you are
interested in seeing them but it isn't quite the same as being there
in person. The show finished here in Ottawa yesterday and it was only
by luck that I knew it was happening - by chance I caught an
announcement on cjoh news at the beginning of the week that the quilts
were here again.

Thanks for posting the photos. And when I looked thru them I realized
that I recognized one of them - number 287 (your picture 63) was made
by two members of my quilt guild in memory of a friend who died of
breast cancer. As you say - the quilts are all memorable.
