recycled phone numbers, was Polly's gators
Howdy!
Truth: several years ago, in another city, our ph.# was 2-digits reversed of a furniture refinishing company in the next town. We got phone calls ALL the time, days, nights, weekends including Sunday, w/ people giggling, smarmy-sounding men asking for a date, callers demanding to know "what are your hours" or "what services do you provide? Do you do parties?" After a couple of months of this the phone company agreed to give us a new number. Name of furniture biz w/ the similar number: Professional Strippers Ragmop/Sandy --the money I could have made... ;-P On 6/23/06 9:45 AM, in article , "Georg" wrote: Anne in CA wrote: Larisa, I can go you one better -- We had our phone number changed about 2 years ago (paranoid DH, loooonng story) and the one the phone company gave us had been the *fax* number for a small auto repair shop. You can eventually convince a person (pharmacy, bill collector, whatever) that they have the wrong number and to stop calling you. You absolutely *cannot* do that with an automated fax machine from some repo or insurance company! We regularly get calls at 3 am from some east coast machine programmed to start calling at 6 am! One of my apartments was one digit off for WalMart Service Desk in our town. You can't convince someone they've dialed the wrong number when they have a serious beef with Waly World over something. But at least they don't call at 4 a.m. -georg |

yes indeed he is a keeper! long live freedom of choice :-D
-- Jessamy In The Netherlands Take out: so much quilting to reply. Time to accept, time to grow, time to take things slow www.geocities.com/jess_ayad http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jes...pson/my_photos ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He's a keeper... he makes the point that I never made him choose, that I knew the more love you give, the more you recieve... and to ask him to leave his child & wife so he could be around people that were that ____ was really not even a choice, but a freeing/liberating thing. It opened up more room to spend time with people who wanted and chose joy to be in their lives. As an adult you can *choose* who you want as family. ;-) Miserable people hate it when other's are happy.... must destroy lol.... -- Jan RCTQ Coffee Diva |

Polly's gators
Ok you guys, You win, you win. I have 4 sisters. Just one a problem.
She is a problem to everyone. Since mom passed she has been on the attack at me though. At least everyone knows what a nut she is. I stay clear as much as possible but she is really slick at what she does. I got in the right line when it came to my parents and most of my sibs. I count myself lucky for the most part. DH has been telling me for years she is going to be a mean, lonely old woman. At 53 she is hardly old but she is getting there : ( I did meet dh because he was a neighbor of hers all those nearly 28 years ago so I guess I should be thankful at least for that. Linda, we are all really thrilled about Norah and enjoy hearing about her and seeing pics. Sandy, you got in the wrong line when they were passing out moms : ( Jan, I think your in laws must just be loony. (they probably know my sister). Taria Sandy Foster wrote: In article , "nana2b" wrote: Taria, I only have one sibling, a sister. She is a miserable individual and a b***h to boot. I called her when Norah (first great child for our parents and our first granchild was born) was 10 minutes old to share my joy. Norah is now almost 3 weeks old and I have not had one call or any communication from her. I have sent e-mail with photos and have gotten no response. On level, I am done with her. She is the kind of person who is "What have you done for me lately?" or I need your support now so I will "let you in". I am lucky to have caring friends where I live and children near me to share the joy. She is the one that is missing out. One of my kids said she is jealous. How sad not to rejoice in the birth of a baby. Thanks for letting my vent. Linda in Tx Linda, you have my sympathy. I have a great sister, though we live too far apart to do much together except video chat G. But our mother is a different story. She told me at one point that the Bible says to honor your father and mother but that not a word is said about honoring your spouse, so I was supposed to ignore him (she'd have preferred me to divorce him) and jump to her tune. She has also hated my children since birth -- probably because she was jealous of the time I spent with them instead of with her. She stole a significant amount of money from me, and I could go on and on. She puts on a great act with people outside of the family. We haven't spoken in years. There's a certain sense of freedom when you cut someone so poisonous out of your life. |

Polly's gators, LONG
I get these all the time and I *do* interrupt them, even if it means
saying EXCUSE ME!!! very loudly. I just amke it very clear that if they want me to even consider donating anything to them, they send it out to me, since, if they have my phone number, they have my address. If they ask for my address, I tell them to take me off the list pami wrote: That sound like the call I rec'd this morning a gal asking for donations for the police department. They talk so fast and sound so reheased you can't interupt them. Anyhow she finishes her speech. I told her I was sick with cancer right now and she still went on and on. I finally asked her...... what part of the English she didn't understand? Next I heard...in a snotty voice...Have a nice Day....click I don't ever trust giving money to agencies like that. If I want to donate money to my police I will drive it up there. I think lots of them are scams pami. |

OT phone solicitors, was Polly's gators, LONG
Both y'all are just too polite. I have decided that if they are rude
enough to ignore my first attempt at interruption, I just say "good bye" and hang up. Life is too short to spend time with rude people -- especially when they call on the phone that *I* am paying for "-) Anne in CA annerudolph AT comcast DOT net Disclaimer: Any errors in spelling, fact, or tact are transmission errors. http://community.webshots.com/user/annerudolph3 http://www.frappr.com/rctq http://annerudolph.home.comcast.net/anne.htm off kilter quilter wrote: I get these all the time and I *do* interrupt them, even if it means saying EXCUSE ME!!! very loudly. Yes Sandy, Some folks have suggested she is jealous, but her life is good,
and she has 3 kids that are doing well too. I will never figure her out and after this I give up. Too much energy required. Linda in Tx |
