Ok - I just finished a book that for the most part I really enjoyed. The
writing is absolutely luminous. The plot was well crafted and the characters
quite vivid. My only sticking point, there is a huge amount of drug/booze
use and abuse and it some ways I think it really detracted from the story.
(as well as being a weakness in the plot)

The book in question is Warrener's Beastie by William Trotter

Has anyone else read this opus yet?

Cheryl

No. But it sounds very interesting when I looked at the description.
I'll have to see if the library has it.

Reminds me of why I disliked Running With Scissors - which I can hardly
believe that they were selling as a humor book - with drug abuse,
mental cruelity, and pedophilia.

Let me know - I want to hear someone else's take on it!

I just started reading Running With Scissors yesterday and haven't gotten
very far. I borrowed this book from a friend who said it was hilarious and
then got a review from another friend who said it was "interesting." It's
going to be fun to see what my take is on this book.

I'll be interested to see what you think.
It's coming out in movie version this year with Annette Benning as the
mother.
