Default Speaking of Paducah?

Is it still possible to get motel/hotel reservations for April 2005? Any
suggestions would be welcomed.

Not really - I just happened to call when a large group had cancelled, so I
got rooms about a month ago, but prior to that, I had called practically
every hotel/motel in town. There were some B & B's available, but since
there are 6 of us & we want to share rooms, the B & B's weren't working. Go
to www.paducah-tourism.org & look for the Quilt Show tab. It has a list of
all accomodations in the area. You may find something that's a little out
of the way, but if you're determined to go, it may work for you. Good Luck!
I feel your pain

You could sign up for this steamboat cruise on the Mississippi Queen and
then you could stay on the boat and not have to worry about a hotel room

Hullo Joan
We were in the same position. I started trying to book rooms a year
before. However, we did get rooms at Best Inn - which is a motel. I
had to book through Best Western. The reason we got the rooms is
because they don't start taking bookings (at least they didn't?) until
September/October time. Now, this was not a salubrious place in any
way; but we were told that it is due to be completely re-furbished
during this summer. There were two really good things about it: it was
clean and had fresh towels every day (not what you might have expected
from the outside!!); and it was just a straight road drive of about ten
minutes to get to the show (on the same road as Hancock's of Paducah!!).
We did have an issue about the charges, but that topic has already been
aired. And at least we did get a bed for the show; for that we were
grateful.

It's always possible to get reservations if you are willing to drive a
little. Why not look for accomodations in the surrounding
communities. It will probably be financially feasible to rent a car
and pay less to not stay right in the middle of the "action".

As an example, I stayed in an hotel when I went to the Pacific
International Quilt show last year. A hotel near the show (walking
distance) would have cost me $125 a night. I stayed in a hotel 10
minutes from the convention center and paid $85 a night for a hotel
that was wonderful and served me a complete breakfast in the deal.
I'm staying in the same hotel this year. It's worth it to me to drive
the 10 minutes to save the $$$.

Another thing you might want to check out is Bed and Breakfasts in the
surrounding communities. Given the choice, I would much rather spend
my time in a B&B than a hotel or motel.
