Squishie etiquette
Great idea Tina! Those small bits can be used for Kidlet quilts.
Even if the Recepient can't use the fabric, she/he will enjoy sharing with other quilters who need 'just a smidge of that!' PAT Tina wrote: I sure hope sending from ones stash is an "ok" thing to do! I'd be hard pressed to do much squishin' if I had to go out and buy new ones every time I wanted to squish. As for size - if I have a large piece of something, I've tried to at least cut a FQ or FE - but in some instances, I have sent less. I have also sent out of my "scrap bag" if I know I am sending to someone who does applique and might use a butterfly, cat, or flower for fussy cutting or something. In those cases, I try to at least send a big enough piece that the person gets at least one whole, if not two of the designs on the fabric. Tina |

Most of the squishies I have sent have been from my own stash. I don't think squishy fabric is required to be standard FQ. I have sent even odd shape pieces if I think a certain person would want the specific color or theme. Sometimes I send a stack of Charm Squares. Just my never humble opinion. PAT in VA/USA Pat, I agree with you. I can't see where it would be offensive to send fabric -- a gift is a gift, given from the heart. I spent hours going through my stash, but didn't find any. Sorry.

I've turned way too many pictures of presidents INTO stash.

Squishie etiquette
Got a Squishie today--right after I got home from PT. It was greatly
appreciated. I 'knew' it was coming as she had what I needed to finish a certain project. Now it could be on it's way before Christmas--even tho there isn't a deadline for this. So it made an ok sunny day into a Gorgeous Sunny Day : ) Butterfly "Pat in Virginia" wrote in message news:lSKif.14867$Mi5.6151@dukeread07... May I expand my previous answer to this thread? A few minutes after I posted it, I went out to my mail box. Lo and behold, I found a squishy!! It includes assorted cuts from the generous donor's own projects. I *really* like that ... it means a stronger connection between quilters. This is a really fantastic squishy ... I am so excited with each gorgeous piece. Wheeeeee! PAT, grinning in VA/USA C & S wrote: I was wondering if it is poor etiquette to send someone a squishie that came from your own stash. If I'm in a quilt store and a fabric reminds me of someone, I will buy it and send it off unwashed. However, there are times when something from my stash would be perfect for that individual. The quilts stores are seldom generous in their cutting of yardage and after washing the fabric, my half yard barely has 18 inches. I can sometimes trim the edge of the fabric to remove the frizzles and produce a FQ, but that is not always the case. I'm thinking that if I leave the frizzle the person will know that the fabric has been washed, but is that proper? Thanks |

Squishie etiquette
Hi ya, Pat.
I HAVE fabric with those green backs printed on it but I can't share at this time--project isn't finished. Remind me in a couple of years.....if I have any left, its' yours. Think I only got a FQ of it as it was precut. Butterfly "Pat in Virginia" wrote in message news:bNLif.14876$Mi5.12338@dukeread07... Well your 'advanced' age hasn't hurt your fine sense of humor Kathy. Taria, ducking and running but I can tease cause I am older than you and my bd is coming soon too. Kathy Applebaum wrote: I've turned way too many pictures of presidents INTO stash. |

Honey I am overjoyed to receive any size fabric, washed, unwashed, crumpled,
whatever. I am still trying to figure out who sent me those three Beautiful sprayed metallic fq's that I have fondled and coveted for over 2 months now. Whomever you are, I am sending you yet another big hug and kiss. You made my heart soar! Cyndi |

Gosh, I'm certainly not picky. It doesn't have to be washed, or store
bought. I send stuff from my stash frequently. Sherry Starr "C & S" wrote in message ... I was wondering if it is poor etiquette to send someone a squishie that came from your own stash. Frugal Quilting was Squishie etiquette
Oh don't get me started thinking on that! I used to save _everything_, and use it too. DH had a Very Serious Talk with me about thrift versus storage space and the value of time. ie. we are not so utterly destitute that you need to spend time mending socks or stuff dollies with thread snippets. I'm only just getting to the point where I am not overcome with waves of Guilt when I throw something away. On the plus side he has recently threatened to try and make me make a quilt with all brand new boughten fabric, nothing I have dyed myself or saved over from another project, or ripped out of an old dress. Can you really do that? I have never made a quilt without a bit of something someone once wore in it. Ever. How much recycling does anybody else do when putting together a top? Clothes, curtains, etc. The Old Aunties would be having apoplexy at the notion of all new fabric in a bedquilt.
