Ravenna was the base of Augustus Caesar’s Adriatic fleet. Ravenna holds a
supreme place in the history of art; its churches are a source of knowledge
of Byzantine decorative arts. This book features 12 exciting needlepoint
designs adapted from the magnificent mosaics which adorn the walls and
ceilings of churches and public buildings at Ravenna in Italy. Each design
features a B&W picture of the original design in the building and a color
photo of the finished needlepoint work, as well as clear full page patterns,
precise instructions and color charts. Suitable for Smyrna, Kelim, Cross
stitch techniques. This book can go for quite a premium. An inscription that
appears to signed and dated by the author is found at the top of the title
page.
