Again, I recommend the Gripit Sit-On-It frame. I must be the only person
in the whole world reading RCTN who uses a Gripit because no one else has posted about it!!! I know we discussed it before, but the only reason I don't comment on the Sit-On-It is because I've never figured out how to not pinch my fat thighs. I love my Gripit Legend floor stand, but I never could make the Sit-On-It work comfortably for me. I've gotten lots of use of Skyhook's String ... thing.. (sorry, can't remember the 'official' name). I don't use q-snaps so don't know how you would make it work with them, though. Tegan Who we are never changes. Who we think we are... does. - Unknown |

No, Tia-Mary, I use an Original Sit on It with a conversion kit they sold me
that clamps on the corners of whatever frame being used. I love mine! Folds easy to travel, very adjustable etc. My husband even made me some extensions to make the center bars longer so that I can make it higher and hang down instead of lay flat in front of me. Is there a lap frame that will hold my stitching this high? ...... Again, I recommend the Gripit Sit-On-It frame. I must be the only person in the whole world reading RCTN who uses a Gripit because no one else has posted about it!!! It really IS superb and worth every penny! The frame will also fold up fairly compactly *with* your needlework still attached. The Gripit is also the only frame holder that you can see demonstrated at CATS! The people who own the company are very strong supporters of CATS and offer some *great* sales at the time!!! CiaoMeow ^;;^ . Been there, done that and now I remember the discussion :-). The only way to avoid pinching of thighs (I have some pretty hefty hams meselves) is to have a towel between the oval piece and the thighs. Me, I usually have on slacks if I am at my needlework meeting. At home, I have on my "old lady house coat" and nekkid thighs so I wirggle around and get the towel to cover the wooden oval part :-)! Tia Mary dear,
Will you quickly measure your Grip It, and tell me how far it is from the oval piece to the clamp? I need it to be a minimum of 20 inches - I just measured. More would be better. TUVM, Ruthie in Colorado alowan art earthlink dort net |

I just measured and from the front of the oval piece to the first knob is 14". The piece that is attached to the oval "sit on it" is 8" -- this is the piece that looks like two separate pieces and the oval piece fit in between them. The next piece -- the "solid" one with the long, narrow space in it -- is another 14" long. This is the piece that holds the needlework frame. If you liked the Gripit but needed more room, you could always talk with Lilas -- she's the boss lady there. I am sure they have had requests on ways to customize a Gripit to fit different body types. CiaoMeow ^;;^ .. Since I use scrolls, I don't like anything that clamps on the "top" of
my project, ie: on the fabric itself, but prefer to "grip" from the side. My GripIt holds scroll frames from the side. You can get them with either attachment. Tegan Who we are never changes. Who we think we are... does. - Unknown |

The Original Gripit is the one with the clamp at the top. I much prefer the Legend -- personal opinion, of course :-). CiaoMeow ^;;^ .. My Grip It has an attachment that has two clamps and a horizontal bar so
that you clamp the clamps to the top corners of whatever piece you work is on. Is that clear as mud or what? Julie in Hondo "Tia Mary-remove nekoluvr to reply " wrote in message ...
