Yes, we just had on our news the fact that the flooded area was the size
of France and Germany put together. That is almost incomprehensible.
Areas are vast in Australia, I know; but that is truly awful. They
didn't show the area on a map, so I can't tell whether Bronnie could be
involved or not.
Like you, I hope she is OK. I think she is the only one near Brisbane?

Hi Everyone, thanks so much for thinking of me and our fellow
Queenslanders.
The floods are about 500km further north (Queensland is a very big
state). Rockhampton is a big city on the coast and a big coal
terminal port. Emerald is a smaller town inland on the flood plain.
there are all these big rivers, and the amount of rain has filled
various catchment areas to overflowing. Just terrible.
Here in SE Queensland, we have still had our fair share of rain in
December. For the month, 25 inches (600mm)! There has been a little
localised flooding, nothing like further north. Our dams have been
doing controlled releases as they are all above 100% full. What we
don't want is rain coupled with king tides and more cyclonic rain
depressions hitting the coast.
The farmers and country town people are very stoic and have a self
deprecating sense of humor, spending New Year's Eve bedded down at the
local pubs (hotels) partying with little or no warm beer whilst their
homes are totally inundated. the severity of it all will no doubt hit
them soon. Your collective thoughts and prayers would be appreciated
I'm sure.

I live on a ridge for which I am grateful! It's just started to rain
again after a couple of days of blue skies here. Turned the weather
very muggy.
Hugs

Good to hear you have not been washed out to sea. We hope the best for
you, and that you continue to avoid this terrible calamity.
