So, Debra, you think it would be more successful for me to ask
questions? Rather than just 'be told' everything? I am usually a model pupil - and a pretty good teacher, so I'm told g - but it is just with DH that I get 'nervous' and I don't function well at all. But, this time I really am determined. I'll remember this, and start with a few questions. I could even write them down, so they don't go out of my mind when needed! I'll use our website, because we have it there, and we should use it (DH updates it occasionally with info.), although it probably won't be as user friendly as Webshots. Thanks ever so much for your thoughts. I really am grateful to everyone for such encouragement. .. In message , Debra writes Patti, your first question to your DH should be "How does the camera or it's removable memory connect to the computer?" That was the only problem I had. DH had to get a specific connecting cord and hook it to my computer, but your camera or it's removable memory might hook directly to either your computer or your scanner or printer. Second question is, "How do I look at and edit the pictures once they are in the computer?" The camera may have come with specific software or you might be able to use programs that you have used in the past. I can use my scanner software to do editing like cropping and PC Paintbrush for other editing, and other programs for simply viewing. Using picture sharing websites is as easy as signing up and downloading their software. I had no problems at all using WebShots. Lesson learned the hard way...
How sad!!!
When I ran from Hurricane Rita last year... I took the quilts and ufo's with me!! Along with a few of my absolute favorite fabrics not cut up yet!! Tricia http://photos.yahoo.com/momiixii Roberta Zollner wrote: What bad luck! And if a hurricane ever does hit Michigan, we know what you will rescue first! Roberta in D, where global warming now occasionally gives us a tornado! Aack! schrieb im Newsbeitrag ups.com... After finding this group and joining up, (with a great welcome, thank you all!), I decided to do as a few of you asked and get pictures of my previous quilts to post. After a week of phone calls and emails, I'm officially in mourning. Every single quilt that I've made and given away no longer exists. Blue maple leaves and green Ohio stars: stolen from different Navy barracks. Multi-color ribbons in an Amish theme: lost in a hurricane flood Sunshine and shadows, eaten by a vicious dryer and thrown away My brother's wedding carpenter's wheel: lost in the divorce and not in sight anymore Four baby quilts, loved to death (those I'm OK with) Tumblers, my first quilt, lost in a move Multi-color nine-patch star, "Ummm... I have no idea what I did with that thing". So, I've learned a lesson here. No, I'll still make quilts as gifts, I'll probably never stop doing that. But I WILL take pictures of every quilt I make from now on. And, since the one I'm currently working on is for ME, I'll have at least one quilt that I know will live. After all, how many hurricanes are going to hit Michigan??? :-) Vicky, sadder but wiser. |

oh dear, i am ever so sorry if i confuddled you, Patti.
all i meant to say was i'm sure it will all become clear quick as a flash once you get dh sitting beside you, slowly and carefully guiding you holding the mouse and clicking thru the appropriate buttons. thats really all it takes, just a few minutes of time. YOU need to be holding and clicking tho with his patient(hard as it might be for him) guidance. you can do this, of that i'm sure cuz it really is easier than making a quilt, quicker too, lol. i look forward to seeing all your pix soon as you can find the time available for it. hugz, jeanne -- nzlstar at yahoo dot com nzlstar on yahoo msg'r nzlstar on webshots "Patti" wrote ... I'll remember this, and start with a few questions. I could even write them down, so they don't go out of my mind when needed! When I'm trying to get DH to teach me something on the computer I have to ask questions, very specific questions. If I don't he tries to teach me either too little and I'm still lost, or way too many ways to do the same thing and I'm just confused. I only need to learn one way, but I want to learn that one way well, so I've had to learn to ask specific questions to get the info I need. Since I learn best by doing it myself, I sit at the computer and have him tell me what to do, step by step. Slowing him down to my learning speed helps keep him from trying to show me a dozen things at once too. After he has told me once, I try to do it all by myself to see if I've got all the steps in my head correctly. Writing each step down is a good idea. It does help to be able to look at notes whenever you need them. I have no doubt that you can learn it. If you can learn how to make a quilt, you certainly can learn how to do this. I'll use our website, because we have it there, and we should use it (DH updates it occasionally with info.), although it probably won't be as user friendly as Webshots. Actually it will probably be easier than WebShots because you will be in total control of the picture page. Thanks ever so much for your thoughts. I really am grateful to everyone for such encouragement. Debra in VA See my quilts at http://community.webshots.com/user/debplayshere |
