Double standards Dianne ,
You didn't "pour out your feelings", you condemned us for having said nothing. May you or none of you never be in my/ our place ,, When i pour my feelings in one way you call me whining and playing victim , when i speak from my heart another time you call it condemming ...... Yes i was telling you that i was hoping just for once that this group will be different , but you can`t .. And i do not know what this comparison with Dutchie does here .... There's a difference. Rueben (Dutchie) poured out her heart. We responded with well wishes and simple advice. You poured out your anger. I simply didn't know how to respond to your post. But that didn't mean that I was in any less pain over the war and death that both Palestine and Isreal are suffering. If you think this is anger , lady are you lucky , and have you had a shelterd life , even with your last hard life .Those who wanted knew how to respond ,..On other Ngs and lists people Phoned, in this ng ... Chocolade and ...petrol prices are more important ,,,, I simply don't know how we're going to stop religious zealots. We're dealing with zealots of all kinds in our own country. They are frightening. And Dianne you better start thinking about those Zealots before they blow up somethnmg else in your country or have you forgotten the Twin towers , blown up by the same school of thought. By condeming their acts you give them a blow at a time , by keeping quiet you encourage them !!!!! mirjam |

Well Dawne so you say a prayer and i do not think lightly of it ,
but will a prayer stop all this ? i thank you for the prayers , but my experience of several generations told me prayers are not enough , we have to condemm the deeds , and sometimes smack back, Every day as a young guard checks my bag in the door of every mall , as another guard walks in a bus and checks it for me i thank them with all my heart and wish them a 'Boring day" . And the sad thing Dawne ! is that this murderes are carried in the name of a religion ,,, that is so horrid , so anti any idea we all want to have about a religion , The last terrorist was a religious teacher .....and it is so sad. mirjam O |

I would join you in those wishes. All security guards, all peacekeeping battallions, all bomb squads, may they have many long and boring days. I have 2 questions--I know they are dumb but I just have to ask?
1. Why are there more jews in NYC than in Israel? 2. Why can't we just leave them alone and let Israel defend themselves how they see fit? They did fine the last time. You have no idea at all what I do in the background - when I'm not reading/posting here. I give zealots courage when I act, think and talk "fear". I'm not gonna do that - as long as it's possible for me to behave otherwise. I may not have known the fear of war and cruelty like those during WWII or under regimes such as Pol Pot or Edi Amin, but I know fear for my life, and being helpless to stop it. You are not the only one, Mirjam. You know nothing about me. Dianne |

According to a quick Google search, the population of Israel is 6.5 million. The Jewish population of the United States is 5.5 million. The Jewish population of New York City is, for the first time in many years, less than one million. Dawne |

There are more Jews in New York City than in Israel because Jewish people
have been thrown out of their homes for centuries before there was an Israel for them to go to. And you're forgetting that Israel is a tiny country, surrounded by enemies who won't allow Jewish people in. Many of them settled in New York because it was the first place they came to when they got off steerage on the ships that brought them. They left in droves from Eastern European countries that hated them, tortured them and didn't allow them freedom; even before Hitler. And lest you forget, most of the Jewish people who live in the United States consider themselves Americans and just because we would like to see peace in Israel doesn't make us any less dedicated to the American way of life. Husband and I watched the "History" channel last night. We were both awestruck and unaware at what happened to Czechs during WWII. At the end, they showed the monument built for the children killed in the one city. So many slaughtered of all ages and philosophy. And the cruelty. And not just the Czechs, Dianne. The Poles and the Ukrainians and the Serbs and the Jews and the Chechens and the Tatars (obviously Hitler wasn't the only one at work on this list)... it goes on and on.
