Bonus quilt
A few weeks ago, I finished a quilt for my granddaughter that combined
blocks my mother had embroidered with a lot of scrappy '30's repro fabrics. I ended up with some extra 4-patches, so I made a small quilt for DGD to use with her dolls. I added a piano-key border using scraps left from the border of the bigger quilt. You can see the "bonus quilt" at http://webpages.charter.net/jaccola/...DollsQuilt.JPG. Most of the left-over repro scraps are very small and fit into a quart-size ziplock bag. DGD will get those, too, along with a piece of warm'n'white batting and a glue stick Photos of the bigger quilt are toward the bottom of http://webpages.charter.net/jaccola/Quilts2005.html Julia in MN -- This message has been scanned for viruses by Norton Anti-Virus http://webpages.charter.net/jaccola/ |

Julia, I love Katelyn's big quilt. Is that from a particular pattern? And the
bonus quilt is great, too! Thanks, Cappy "Julia in MN" wrote in message ... I'm not usually a fan of '30s fabrics, but your quilt is one I'd happily welcome to my home. As for the bonus quilt, it's adorable! -- Sandy in Henderson, near Las Vegas my ISP is earthlink.net -- put sfoster1(at) in front http://home.earthlink.net/~sfoster1 AKA Dame Sandy, Minister of Education |

Bonus quilt
So sweet, Julia.
Isn't it interesting to note how the prints in the picture of the bonus quilt appear so much more defined and larger than in the large quilt. A good visual example of why it is always stated that one must use tiny prints in a miniature - so everything is scaled down. Something I have only just begin to do in the last year or so. I know it's an obvious fact g but sometimes the obvious takes a little longer to impinge than perhaps it should! .. A while back, Joan in Bellevue, NE, had posted some photos of a quilt top she had made combining blue work and pieced blocks. I drafted my own pattern based on Joan's photos and using the size of my embroidered blocks. According to Joan, she used a pattern in American Patchwork and Quilting, August 2004 Julia in MN -- This message has been scanned for viruses by Norton Anti-Virus http://webpages.charter.net/jaccola/ |
