Arggh! foiling
Hello, group! I'm a beginner and have really enjoyed doing the 10 or so
projects I've completed. I've tried both lead and foil and like the look of foil much better. The start and finish of a project is the most fun for me, and I'm looking to find a way to hasten some of the more artisian aspectics of the inbetween. My sweetie got me an Inland Edgemaster for Christmas, and I'm disappointed. Not only does the foil not center on the glass, but most of my glass pieces don't fit in the glass guide. What to do? I thought I'd check with you all to see if I'm missing something in the set up before sending it back and disappointing my thoughtful gal. thx, skg |

HI SKG
I have two foilers. One is the bench-mounted type - which comes with two different 'rollers' for different widths of foil. I wonder if you're prehaps using the wrong roller for the thickness of glass tht you're using. I have found with this foiler that there's a tendency for the edges of the glass to 'shear' through the foil - haven't found out how to prevent that yet. This bench-foiler is fine for terrariums, boxes etc - where you have long, straight runs. It's not so good for smaller, irregular pieces. I find that I use a small hand-foiler much more frequently. This does a good job, you can hold the glass in one hand & the foiler in the other, and it's easy to see if it's all going right.... Don't know if this helps - but thought I'd offer my 2-pennorth! SKG -
I use a Diegel foiler. It takes some getting used to, as it has certain advantages and disadvantages as compared to the very popular Inland. Anyhow, the big deal for me is the ability to see the edge of the glass I'm foiling at all times, and the ability to center absolutely anything. I am as fast (or maybe even a little faster) with the Diegel in production foiling. Just takes practice. I think I bought mine he http://www.glassmart.com/diegel_foiler.asp but there are plenty of other places. Google "diegel foiler" and take your pick. Around $40. Don't know how it will work for you, but it certainly cranked up MY artisan aspectics! ~s "windriverfamily" wrote in message ... Hello, group!
