Question about making polymer clay beads
I bought premo Sculpey clays and made some cool designes but my problem is I
can't figure out how long to bake them. I've already burned one. What do they look/feel like when they are ready? |

Cook them by time and temperature and thickness of the item to be baked. The
recomendations for polyclays are to bake at 275 degrees for 20 minutes per 1/4 inch of thickness. An oven thermometer is a good investment. The clay looks pretty much the same raw and cooked so time is a good way to go. Diana -- Vote this November (U.S.A.) "Pandi" wrote in message news:P3Ccd.80258$Lo6.19628@fed1read03... I remember baking my first pieces of sculpey...the white bulk stuff that is
almost good for nothing, and wondering why the darn stuff wouldnt harden! It was still dentable after the recommended time and temps. I had no idea that it needed to cool before you could safely handle them. LOL Some of the pieces I made with that crummy stuff still exist and are in good shape. I dont know how that happened. my dd just finished her first project in her sculpture class. She used sculpy,
then they painted it and attached hair trimmed from our horse and dog to make the lion's mane. (Did I mention its' a lion, perched on a rock?) It's fabo...and she's SO proud of it!!! she's working with a retired college instructor in sculpture, and his wife, and they live in this fabo, very bohemian house that they built from the ground up and that's called "Crystal Hawk Studios". It overlooks the pacific ocean, and has lots of authentic chumash indian styled art that they have done over the years. Mine is off by 50-65, depending on it's mood. I would be so lost without my
oven thermometer. -- ~Candace~ Orphan Beads ~low cost and bartering for the financially challenged beader~ http://snipurl.com/6s4t Princess Auctions ~please see for most current updates and auction information~ http://snipurl.com/8s8o "Dr. Sooz" wrote in message ... You could never tell the temp in our old oven at the ghetto house. It was
so hot it would melt any knobs we purchased and I just plain gave up. I winged a lot of things until I bought my little toaster oven. We finally gave in and used it for almost two years before we moved. Now I have new appliances (cept the fridge) and I love not having to feel as if everything is going to burn the house down. -- Starlia Klopman www.klopmanstudios.com "~Candace~" wrote in message m...
