Default Parallel Bars, Tight Rope

I am a newbie to knots, and I am hoping to get help with this
question. There are two fixed parallel flat metal bars. In each bar,
there is a hole, and I would like to tie a rope in each hole, such
that it extends as tautly as possible between the two bars. What would
be the best approach to this problem?

Thank you for any tips.

is worth repeating. If you make 50 loops of
fine cord with 20 pounds of tension on each
wrap, you are creating a tension of 1000 pounds.

I can not withstand the temptation to add to this:
if you tension a cord with 20 pounds while wrapping,
then 50 loops will create 2000 pounds of tension on each bar

remember this when behind bars ;-), and wear a knitted sweater
