Default All about me - slightly OT

Hi, everyone.

I have only been quilting for about 6 months. My first attempt at a quilt
was for my baby daughter, who is now 10 months old. I had cross stitched 8
blocks of Teddies with stars and moons and wanted to make a quilt out of
them. After making the quilt my niece asked me if she could have the quilt.
I promised that I would make her one without the cross stitch. I have made
her quilt top, one for a friend's daughter, one each for my nephews and for
my friend's son. Once they are all completed. Just the quilting and
binding to go. I prefer to machine piece and quilt.

I already have plans for a single bed quilt for my daughter for her first
bed and of course the Lone Star Medallion quilt for our bed.

You don't waste any time do you? Some folks have still never
finished their first quilt, so way to go! What colors were these
quilts? Do you have pictures? What color is your Lone Star going to
be? I would like to make one of those someday too.

Liked your letter re your quilt.

I am 67 years old and just started making baby-sized quilts, nine patch
scrap type. I made a few and then decided to try an appliqued heart
quilt, using instructions from the book called "Singer, The Quilting
Bible." They had step by step pictures. I have some difficulty in
following directions, but managed to do it. So far, my daughter, age
43, and granddaughter, age 12, loved to receive my first cozy,
flannel-backed ones. Then I gave Jamie, my granddaughter, my appliqued
quilt for her birthday today, and she loved that.

So, you see, I made my older "babies" happy with their quilts.

Leigh,

I live in Hobart, Tassie.

I haven't as yet taken a photo of the quilt, but I will. The patterns were
in "Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch" Issue 26, which is an Australian
publication. The web address for the publication is:

Hi Veronica,

I would LOVE to see pictures of the teddy-with-stars quilt! In the

meantime
could you tell me where you got the cross stitch pattern from? It sounds
right up my alley!

Hey, I see you're an Aussie. Where are you, roughly?

Oh yeah, and welcome. :-)

Come on Linda.. I thought it was understood that the dark chocolate was
MINE! I like other chocolate, but when I think I could be having dark
chocolate instead the pleasure kind of goes away! It is so bad that I
prefer Hershey's dark to milk swiss chocolate with pralines etc..
(unless they are filled with liquour.... those are good too regardless
of the colour of the chocolate! I gues syou could say I am a chocolate
racist!)

Ok, if you two can not settle it, I'll make it easy and take all the
dark chocolate. That way you two don't have to fight over it. )

Please forgive me, I did not mean to step on your toes in the chocolate
department. Being an addict maybe you can indentify with this. When my DS
and DDIL got married I made Welcome Goodie Bags for out of town guest. We
had 25 bags. Besides all the other good stuff we included chocolate. I
bought the large Hershey bags of mini's at Sam's and picked out all the Dark
Chocolate bars and kept them in a secret stash. Now that is love!!!
