I can't wait until business hours tomorrow to call Singer and find out exactly what model she is. I can't wait to find out what model she is and then order that manual. I can't wait to sew on her! I just can't wait! There are places on the web where you can get a date of your machine. If nobody has posted one before I get home from church, I'll look one up and post it for you. |

That's a model 15. It is Chrstina's favorite to MQ on.
And does she do this just regular sewing? Does she have a walking foot for it? Just a regular low shank walking foot? And do all Singer needles fit this machine or will I have to purchase different/special needles? Tina |

Regular singer needles fit, just remember NFL - Needle Flat Left - the flat
side of the needle goes to the left, and you thread from right to left. I have a walking foot - generic for the low shank. I also have a generic darning foot that I use for free-motion quilting. When I FMMQ, I get the best results from lowering the feed dogs, and setting the stitch length to 0, and I also loosen the presser foot tension a bit - the knob on top does that. Play around with it, to see what works best for you. Warning - get used to lifting the presser foot with your LEFT hand. Everytime I forget and use my right hand, I get burned from the light! :-) http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/sewcenter.htm My Margarita is about half-way down the page. -- Wendy http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/quilt1.htm de-fang email address to reply "Tina" wrote in message oups.com... You can see a couple of 15's on my page:
http://home1.gte.net/res6mc9p/taria/mod15.htm I think Wendy got your questions. It is really a classic standard Singer. Really easy to deal with. No alcohol when you clean it! Wendy - thanks so much! I don't see where/how you can lower the feed
dogs on this machine? DH can't find the manual but I did find one on E-bay so after I confirm the model tomorrow, I will see about ordering it. I also don't know how to loosen the presser foot tension. And I am especially grateful for the warning - I would never have thought of lifting the presser foot with left hand - I've always done it from the right - but today when I was cleaning the machine up, I thought, MAN, that light looks like it could burn the tar out of you! So thanks in advance for that one! Your Margarita is a DOLL! Beautiful case! I'm so glad there are others here like you who already know and understand this machine! Tina |
