1. My good news is that everyone is finally healthy--no more yucky colds.

2. The dog's ear infection has cleared up. Why can't cocker spaniels lift their
ears and let a little air in there?

3. The house is back to normal after the holidays.

4. DH didn't have a heart attack while shoveling that heavy snow AND he has
agreed to subscribe to our local snow removal service. That's a big worry off
my mind.

5. I'm starting my Santa applique today so I'll be ready for next Christmas and
I won't have any interruptions.

6. There's this smart woman on my newsgroup who understands the value of simple
pleasures. Thanks, Pat.

My small pleasures for the week: Actually got a good start on the
"floral flamingo" quilt last night!!! DD is recovering from her nasty
tummy virus and is actually eating food now instead of just drinking. I
am trying knitting for the first time and am loving it...much more so
than crocheting. Oh, and I've lost about 3 pounds since
Christmas...still have to get toned up, but any progress is progress.

These are things of small importance, but packing big pleasure! I lost
3.6 pounds this week!! I did that in spite of going out for NY Eve, to a
Sunday Open House, and to Lunch with Hanne. I am pleased and proud.
What is your good news?

We had 8 inches of snow. DS's dear GF told me the other day her car was hit
in a parking lot. Last winter she slid on ice and hit a bus in Chicago and
had quite a bit of damage. The good news? Her car was coated with a thick
layer of ice and the only result was the ice was broken off! A protective
shell! She thought she would go home and spray her car with the hose in
case she had another fender bender. woo hoo!

We had a 6 inch snowstorm and my DH cleared off my car for me....Hugs,

am pleased and proud.

Congratulations, Pat! I'd love to know how you did it -- I *gained*
about five pounds and need to shed them fast. g If I could generate
some will power....

For my good news, my back/neck aren't hurting as much today as usual in
damp weather, so I'll be able to do some serious quilting later! Yay!
And my step-sister wrote to say that her business has gone into its
expected post-holiday slow-down, so our projected trip to China together
to visit my DT (dear twin) -- she's really lonely still after the recent
move -- is probably going to happen in a couple of months!

My son was married on New Years Day to a lovely girl that both grandsons
love dearly. (He's had primary custody of his boys for 15 months and been
raising them for 2 years.) We are all hoping and praying that our
daughter's EPT this weekend will be positive.

Well Pat in VA, here are my funny pleasures. When I wake up in the
morning, I'm so happy, then I tell myself (wonder if I can sit) I can
wow!! then I stand up, then I walk wow!! then I look for lumps, find
none wow!! I'm ok for the day.
I begin my day with a smile, not because I don't feel pain, I will not
go near that because the list would be too long. I seldom have a day
that I'm not grateful for something. My whole family laugh when I tell
them how I see life and we all laugh together.
Have a good day everyone.
Dixie.

When I give to you something I made with my hands I share my heart.

Mine is that we didn't have to spend the holidays with a bunch of dysfunctional
family, and that I cleaned my sewing room so that i can work on a bunch of projects
i've been putting off for lack of room/organization.

We received 2 letters from DS in Navy Basic training this week. DH, DD, and
I were all thrilled!

I lost 2 pounds just before Christmas and managed to keep them off.

Huge congrats on your 3.6 lb. loss this week.

I'm with you Jill, I can spend a very long time watching the squirrels in
our yard and on the deck. We feed the birds, and have a squirrel feeder
box, so they don't get the bird food. We enjoy them so much, DH screwed
boards to a plastic crate and put their feeder in the crate when the weather
got really nasty, so they would have a protected place to eat! Can you tell
we like the little critters?

My husband and I received the call that we've been waiting for for
months, probate is finally done and we can get it all behind us and
start the new year fresh.
One of the simple pleasures I enjoy is watch the birds and squirrels
eating the food we have put out for them. It is difficult, this time of
year, for them to eat with so much snow on the ground. They also seeem
to enjoy the "bird hot tub", as my husband calls it, really it's an
electric dog bowl which keeps the water from freezing allowing them to
drink year round. We've seen many different animals there like cats,
birds, squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks, skunks and others.
Try to enjoy the simple things.
