OT too tight embrodered seams

Jeeks and not jeeks , i am embroidering little images , with sewing thread , and whatever i do it gets too tight and the background keeps being Bubbly Sewing thread had less "give" or stretch than regular embroidery threads. One reason to tightly stretch fabric with a hoop or whatever is to allow for the tightness of the embroidery. If the fabric is very tightly stretched, the embroidery will be OK when the fabric is relaxed. Using layers of stuff that'll dissolve in water is also helpful. Waste canvas helps keep stitching from being too tight without stretching the fabric itself. I can recall using layers of bathroom tissue to loosen seams for decorative effects in machine-stitching. There are more efficient methods, but I was inventing my own as I went along back then, never mind how long ago. :-) Diane Hare |
