Quilt backing sources please
Can anyone recommend a good and reliable source of wide quilt
backings? I am looking for patterned backings -minimum 90" but wider would be better. It's really hard getting anyhting over here which doesn't cost an arm and a leg (not to mention the spleen anda couple of ribs!) I am having to use a palin sheet for the curent quilt-the shop I'd seen some nice stuff in only had 1.5 metres when I went back for it today -and the other stuff they had wasn't much better quality than a muslin! Would seriously consider buying from abroad -especially given how favourable the exchange rate is at present. On that subject- if any UK gals have bought from abroad, how did you get on with customs/imprt charges? Is it a set rate or a % of the stated value? Do they just turn up demanding money or do they advise you in advance? Annie, england |

I don't think this will be much help, Annie, but...Keepsake and Hancock's of
Paducah both have the wide, wide fabric for quilt backing. Both companies are extremely reliable. -- Carolyn in The Old Pueblo If it ain't broke, you aren't trying. --Red Green If it ain't broke, it ain't mine. Carolyn McCarty "annie" wrote in message om... I just got help from this group- my fabric came yesterday- found some 108"
backing from equilter.com. Put 108 and backing in the search line. Hancocks of Paducah has some in their catalog, as does Keepsake quilting. Just passing on the help I get here. Thanks for the replies to my request -I really liked the equilter
range -never imagined so many wide fabrics existed -lucky to get two or three at any quilt shop here. Will definitely be giving them a try once the next project is on the go................ Annie |
