How about spray painting black on the back of 1/4" plate


You get a double image from black mirror. I wonder if paint would do the
same.

Don't know what effect you are going for, but what about black powdercoat on
thin sheet steel?

How about black "Glossy" Plexiglass? @Your local plastics dealer.
