Default OT sorta : Back home and back online - long

Hi all, seems like forever since I've been able to catch up with all the
news. I went to Brisbane for a week to see how my DF was doing and when I
came back I couldn't get a connection to the net for two weeks. Then I had
to go away for 4 days with work. But I'm BACK!! Hope you've all had fun
while I was gone.
DF is about how I expected him to be - not great but he doesn't need me to
be a babysitter yet. He's getting frailer but still feisty and
independent. It was good to be there with him.
And while I was there I managed to catch up with Roberta who is one of our
patch round robin members when I dropped my first 6 patches off to Rowena.
It was nice to put a face to the names.
Came home to find I couldn't get online. After MUCH hassles, lots of
cussing and 3 hours hanging on hold to the phone company we finally decided
that it was my modem that was the problem. Had to wait another 5 days for a
technician to come and replace it under warranty. My contract runs out in
July so I'm glad it happened now BG The tech wasn't convinced it was the
modem but when he finally connected a new one it connected straight away.
Why do they assume that we know nothing about whats happening with our
computers/cars/SMs/other technical things?
BUT I'm back - except that I have to go to work now :-((( So I will drop in
when I get home and see what you've all been up to.
Have a great day

So glad you are home safe and your DF is doing okay. You've gotta give it
to "feisty" don't you? Somehow it just keeps you going.

Lovely to see you Heather.
Sorry about all the hassles - but you made it through! I always learn a
few technical terms in every where I am involved with, then I can trot
them out as appropriate to any pompous techie, as the need arises.
Always makes them sit up and take notice g
Like using the words 'rack and pinion' when the garage man started
'trying' to explain that the tracking on my car was 'off'!!!! He was
leaning back in his chair, and actually sat back up LOL.
