quilting a tshirt quilt
Attention machine quilting gurus!
Despite the many quilts I've made, only a few have been MQed and I'm just about ready to quilt the raffle t-shirt quilt. I have a thin cotton batting and a flannel backing. Is there anything specific to quilting a tshirt quilt that I should be aware of? Thanks! Marijke in FREEZING Montreal |

Just an off the top of my head thought. Sometimes knits want to be stitched
with a ballpoint needle rather than a sharp one. If you run into trouble, you might swap to a ballpoint and see if things go better. Polly "Marijke" wrote in message .. . Use a ballpoint needle so that you don't break the knit thread. I use a
ballpoint any time I am using a knit fabric. A walking foot will help to move both the top of the quilt along with the backing so that you don't have it looking wonky. May want to use a longer stitch so there is less pulling. HTH Debbi in SO CA "Marijke" wrote in message .. . Attention machine quilting gurus! I've quilted quite a number of them for customers, and the only thing different I've run into is that when you sew over any lettering, the thread can pick up colors from the t-shirt. Other than that, quilt away! -- Kathy A. (Woodland, CA) Queen of Fabric Tramps http://www.kayneyquilting.com , remove the obvious to reply |
