current project/s?

Right now I am working on the Pink Hug Quilt for my friend. This is a
support for when she has the mastectomy. Some generous quilters from
RCTQ Land have sent lovely pink fabric to enrich the quilt.

We have not had this thread in a while, so it will be fun to read the

Basically - the quilting.

I have a little pile of quilts waiting for this vital step - all the
ufos in my webshots!

Also have last years European swap to 'quilt as you go' - all sandwiched
ready, and this year's Starry Night to sash/border (got the fabric ready).

I did intend to do Cheryl's Christmas Tree for this Christmas, but it
aint going to happen (again got the fabric ready), have the cats sitting
on the steps cut out, and 2 wallhangings for over my internal kitchen
window planned and 'fabriced'. Oh! also the table runner from Kims
Mystery last Christmas needs putting together

So first things first, and I've got more than enough to do!

Oh, and also my hand quilt travelling project - a blue Japanesey bag,
and also a few little bits and bobs for the two Christmas Fair craft
stalls - tiny stockings or something.

Too many 'Oh's so I'll just start with the quilting with a deadline (2),
and the bits for the stalls, and try not to start anything new for a while.

School starting for me means putting down the needle. Unfortunately I
did not accomplish as much this summer as I had hoped to. This coming
weekend I hope to (lofty hopes):
Do some machine quilting on the green and blue Turning Twenty Again
quilt I made for my neice.
Cut and hopefully mostly finish the baby quilt for Suzanne Rose.
Shop for and find purse hardware I need to finish a Godess purse I
started 3 weeks ago in a class.

I'm still trying to finish up a few baby quilts for my church fair in
October. A friend overbought kits at Joanne's, then lost interest
before she made them. I offered to do them up for her. Some of these
kits were short the exact amount of fabric needed, so I need to find
some matching fabric to make up the difference.
I had to put down another critter this week, my 8 year old cat, Brigit.
She developed a liver problem, stopped eating and became jaundiced (her
ears turned yellow). The vet said she would need a feeding tube for a
couple of months and ultra sounds, x-rays, and MRIs, but it wouldn't be
a cure. I didn't want to put her through that, so we said goodbye.
That's 3 critters we've lost in 6 months. My house is feeling lonely,
just 3 furballs left.

My son is dating a girl who really likes fairies and I'd like to find
some fairy material to make a bag or a small quilt. I'm not having lots
of luck. My webtv doesn't work with every site, so if anyone knows of
some fairy material, please let me know. My wish list would be a
red-headed fairy sitting on a mushroom. (Not too fussy, am I?) She has
a huge tattoo on her thigh of a fairy on a mushroom, a set of fairy
wings (lifesized) on her back, and a mushroom with vine on her ankle.
She's a gorgeous redhead, and my son is head over heels in love. He's
almost 30, so it's about time. He's been touring the country for the
past 2 year wih the Renaissance Faires but has just come home to work at
the King Richard's Faire in Massachusetts.

If anyone can find fairies (with or without mushrooms) material, let me
know. I'm not looking for anything that looks like angels, just fairies.

I had vowed to clean up my sewing room, however, I was waylaid and of
course the sewing room is still about to be condemned! I did get a
"hearts and gizzards" up on the design wall. Now I just have to trim
the applique backing, then put the blocks together.

Three quilted security blankets for three women
on my block who are about to have babies. The shower
is in one month and I just started... (The blankets
are only 18x18, so not very big.)

Marking that silk robe I was talking about making forever ago for
quilting. Did it like a princess style overcoat in raw silk. Quilting
will be celtic interlace around the edges, and staggered hemp leaf as
in sashiko over the main body. After it is quilted and dyed I will
make frogs instead of using buttons. Still haven't got the batting,
but the Hobbs Tuscany silk seems a natural choice. Probably will
paint the interlace to match the frogs too. Be a bit of a pain, but
it would suit the overall look of the thing.

I am finishing up a challenge, send a gallon bag of fabric and get
back a quilt top. It is due September 30, I will get done in time but
just barely! The lesson I am learning is that half square triangles
add a lot of variety and interest to a project but take more time to
make than regular squares.
Next is a lap size quilt for my sister in law who is facing some scary
surgery next month. I do have a stack of appropriate blocks from a
swap several years ago so all I have to do is get it done.
Also, I want to make Carol Doak's block of the month from her yahoo
group. If I get it done before the end of the month I will be
eligible for a prize drawing.
Then, there is the annual Christmas auction for which I make a quilt.
Got to start thinking about what to make.
And here I was thinking that I could coast now that I have gotten the
three HS graduation quilts done...

Wow, what a lot of great projects!
I'm making a hanging for our annual benefit silent auction for the
Anacortes Forest Lands. I took a photo of a bench at our local Heart
Lake, brightened the colors and printed it on fabric. Now I'm dyeing
pieces to border it using leaves and other patterns found in the
original scene.

Great fun!

My plan is not working. I went through the scraps bin; sorted it into
strips, squares and hunks. Beginning with the squares and advancing in a
sort of 'log cabin' manner, I'm making scrappy blocks with the foolish
notion of reducing the explosion in the scrap bin. No matter how much I
use, it never seems to dimish. Ah well. Polly
