Default new Huggers - anyone?

There has been a minor flurry of new huggers signing up since Annie
wonderful post about the after affects of having one of her own. So while
I'm at it, is anyone else interested in joining the Hug list?

One of the ways in which we get these hugs made and delivered without the
recipient knowing about it ahead of time is through the Hug list. I am the
keeper of the Hug list, which is a list of email addresses of people who
wish to be notified whenever such a project is going on. If you wish to be
notified, just send me your email address privately. Whenever the requests
go out, everyone just makes a block if they can. Not everyone can do every
hug, and that is fine. The hugs are always beautiful, and just the right
size.

Very good explanation, Karen! May I add a
thought or two? If you want to make a HUG
quilt, you are welcome to send personal email
announcements to people who are not on the
official list! Or both. HUGS are not an
either/or proposition.

Add me in Karen. I'm busy but I think I can manage a block or two. ;-)

Default hug guildelines

Somewhere, there are more guidelines for participating in a hug - such as
making a block 6 1/2 if that's what's asked for. The hug's mama may launch
in to 'kill' mode if she has to figure out how to put a 5" block in with the
others.
Really try to use the colors asked for. Kate and I will always wonder
exactly what level of 'cheer' was requested for our hugs but Heaven knows
they are dazzling happy.
The signatures on the hug blocks mean a lot; do it even if it gives you
the trembles.
If you can spare it, send a dollar or two with your block. Being the
hug mama is expensive.
Put your block in a zip bag with your mailing label taped inside just in
case the post office stamper goes berserk, and, before you put the bag in an
envelope, clip one tiny corner off the bag so it will lie flat.
I feel like I'm missing something, not an unusual feeling for me. What
did I leave out? Polly

In my experience (I've put together 5 HUGs so far), the blocks that don't
"match" the color proposal find a way to fit in. Sometimes they add just the
right spark. I'm not advocating doing the opposite of what's requested, but
HUGs have a magic all their own that bring the blocks together. Sometimes
they need gators.
